I would like to make a correction here, since people seem to be unaware - this is not a wedding song, it is not performed at weddings, but rather on Lazarus Saturday, hence the name. It's performed by groups of girls, called Lazarki, who visit people's homes in a similar vein to Christmas carollers and sing songs for the members of the household, wishing them health, luck, bountiful harvests etc., and just general happiness. Engagements and weddings factor into that, as they're happy occasions. The ritual itself is called "lazaruvane". One could say that, in a way, it's related to weddings, because it's about maturation - it used to be that a girl wasn't considered eligible for marriage until she'd participated in it at least once, but regardless, it's not classified as a wedding song per se. If you're interested, there are traditional variants of the song on youtube that include more of the lyrics, which makes this a bit more apparent.

It was done on purpose i believe. You only hear it during the barons quest and its supposed to paint this song in a very dark way. Its pretty much showing how horrible his marriage was and how his family had fallen apart and they used this song for the irony of it all. At least thats my take
