This is so me. I played some rounds and didn't like it. After I finished the main story, I was pretty much "Eh, whatever" and pretty much mastered it 2 hours. I then halted my side-quest spree in order to beat every single one I could for cards and find every merchant with Gwent cards for sale. I set my sights upon completing the monster deck, simply because I liked Caranthir, and with Eredin being leader of Monsters it simply felt right.

+jeffery samandar Yeah, well, seeing as the game is landing a 2nd expansion and the gwent has barely been touched in between(whatever balance fixes they've made, NR is still top and Scoiatael is rock bottom), plus the fact that they've shutdown fan-made gwent-online... I doubt that they give two fucks about gwent, not even enough to monetize it.

+Wrathinside Northern Realms on top? LOL no it's not. Nilfgaard is the top deck in Gwent. Medics and spies wreck everything else. decks with the most medics/spies are the best decks

While I can't argue that creation cards are leading, Nilfgaard has too "strong" spies and too "weak" medics. With game duration and round amount\deck sizes locked, to really respawn-bounce something like a... what was it.. that melee dragon - you'd need a fair bit of luck and setup. And in my experience, these medics don't pop in time to really be of use for spies. If anything - decoy does the job better, and it's universal, meaning you can counter enemy spies with a decoy as ST\Monster. I have milled the game as Nilfgaard and especially in mirror matches, and while it is fun... it's just too protracted and not as effective. To get there, I have used a sure-fire double-damage siege Foltest and it was pretty much invincible, because one round I can jiggle with the enemy all I want: spies, melee anged, weathers, you call it. Next round I just roll out my artillery, maybe pop a medic to respawn a dragon and have 60+ points with moves. Unless the enemy has torrential rain bitched up his sleeve, or Rot(really rare case, easy to provoke on the first turn) - there isn't anything to beat it. You could say Monster melee swarm, but that's what you have biting frost\dragon\provocation for. Super easy to force the enemy to pull his army first turn, then to either decoy out or just wreck it. Nilfgard has 10 point archers and siege, but... there's one word for it - Rot. Period. Other than that - he's just feeding the enemy strong spies and deploying 0 healers to try and zerg.

Yes Northern Realms with siege Foltest are amazing. I rocked a perfect NR siege Foltest deck based on that idea yet I got my ass handed to me multiple times by the girl in the Gwent tournament who rocked an amazing Nilfgaard deck. The amount extra cards she could obtain through decoys medics and spies she just zerged me to death. Always won the war of attrition simply because with my spies and medics I played probably 20 cards in total. She probably played closer to 30. Catapaults are great but as soon as you lay down 2 of them they will each have a value of 16 and they always get scorched. Every player worth his salt even the AI will tend to save scorch until you put down some decent cards. Same goes for Cinfrid Reavers or Blue stripes commandos. Excellent fodder for the dragon or a scorch. Monster I agree fully they suck. They have no way to generate extra cards save avallach and that's a one time use for 2 extra cards. Since he takes up one slot anyway you're really getting only 1 extra card and for a monster deck that relies on musters meh... you will more likely than not pull a second card from the same muster group into your hand which is a waste. You can also literally destroy an entire monster deck 10+ cards with biting frost and the dragon card. They ought to get a leader ability that makes them immune to biting frost for it to be a viable deck.

That's why you provoke Rot with some trebuchets. Maybe a couple of tasty 6 point cards. I've tried and beaten the tournament twice, first time around level 14, when I just wanted to see if I'm going to powerlevel too much\skip content etc, and I stopped since I didn't want to spoil the ending(even tho, as I found out, you can just kite the enemies and let the bitch kill them). Back then I didn't have anything except for NR, and I somehow did her. On my rerun, at an appropriate level, I already had solid enough Nilfgard deck that I just wanted to use for fun against her, mirror match. And it is that match that I talked about, it's pretty RNG and protracted, much like Hearthstone. One wrong draw at start and you aren't catching up as Nilfgard, but NR is more stable in that aspect. She might be the strongest Nilfgardian player I can remember, but like everything else - she is beatable by NR, that I can remember. I damn wish that such things in games were replayable...

I had an epic game with the barkeep on An Skellig.. he has a great deck! All in all there were 6-7 spies, 6 decoys, multiple resurrections used. At one point I think I had almost 20 cards in my hand! And it was a damn close match too.
