The Witcher III Enhanced Edition is a new mod that dramatically reworks the games combat, making it more realistic and immersive, especially for PC players. While the mod has been available for some time, the creators recently released the final version, bringing their work to a close. Oh and lets not forget the Mad Titan himself Thanos is in Fortnite for some reason and the VR rhythm game Beat Saber has become the highest rated game of all time on Steam VR or otherwise.

I quite like Witcher 3 combat but it just lack the finesse & diverse techniques. I was really hoping CDPR put the stance system back again (like Witcher 1) when they developed the game. The ranged weapon combat system is basically just lame. Also, the organ focus attack system should've been implemented. Maybe something like mix of Nioh & Dragon's Dogma.

I admit, I really enjoyed the default combat as you had to think about your every action before you made it, it lent a real flow to the style once you got it down. Still, more options are never a bad thing, and I may try out the mod to see if they balanced skills which resulted in Geralt becoming a god by the mid-game, no matter what tree you picked you could become immortal

My only gripe with Witcher 3 was that your save-game imports and choices from previous games don't seem to matter at all. Like, if I sided with Siegfried in the first game it has no impact on your interactions with the Witch Hunters or Fallen Knights, and it doesn't matter if you sided with Iorveth in Witcher 2 because he's been written out of the game completely.

竜昌 I am always unimpressed with choices and the consequences presented in video games (at least in video games that I have playedso far). I think it is too expensive and too much effort for devs to give us completely branching timelines for every choice so the events eventually always converge in the same timeline and we only get minor changes like killing of some unimportant dude along the way based on your actions or play a different cutscenes in the end or in the the worst case scenario the player's actions having no impact at all on the story and characters whatsoever.

I remember when reviews first started coming out and they were all saying the combat was basically the same as Witcher 2, not good, I was bummed. Then I got the game and remembered you can't trust most reviewers. They rush reviews and don't know what the hell their talking about half the time. The combat in W3 is perfect. Once you get the hang of it, once it clicks, you'll hardly get hit anymore. Also once you get good at the combat you'll want to play on the hardest difficulty, death march, otherwise it's not a challenge and you don't end up using alchemy or bombs.

Deathmarch itself becomes pretty easy later on. Even on NG+ But you're right. The game requires you to learn how to deal with enemies by reading the bestiary and using specific oils and bombs to exploit their weaknesses. I was worried about the combat too, but it isn't bad IMO.

Personally I found it too easy, even on Death March if you can dodge, food and quen you will practically never die. I never used offensive alchemy or bombs either.

I love the witcher 3 and i think it's one of the greatest video games of all time, but i am also one of the people who think that the combat system could be better. it's not bad by any means, it feels impactful and fun and they did a great job on that. but it could be more in-depth in my opinion. it's basically dodge, attack, dodge, attack, repeat. just some more in-depth would improve it so much. and i think that's exactly what the mod added. i'll definitely check it out

What i found lacking in the combat was that mid game you could basically break combat with the shield of the quen sign so i stopped using it to have fun. Also the mindless attack and dodge sideways against Human enemies became boring too. It's still a great game but the real trouble might be the enemy AI not their stats

MafiousBJ absolutely, what lacks in Witcher 3 combat is variety in ennemies. For example all sword armed humaoïds behave almost exactky the same, and are countered exactly the same. CDPR tried to address the issue (with success imo) in HoS and BnW with new ennemies with new behaviors like barghests, all kinds of vampires, the plant thingies, panthers, boars, fast kiting spiders things etc. Not to mention the boss fights that received special attention like Olgierd, Detlaff, the blind guardian, or even with mini bosses like mages, the blind animal in the arena which i forgot the name etc.

If we compare it to other, more heavily combat-focused games, the combat of Witcher III seems to be pretty basic. However, I'd argue that it just isn't more complex than it has to be. You have two buttons for attacking, a roll button, a quickstep evade button, Signs, and some alchemy to spice things up. That's it, but you can already do a lot given those "handful" of options. Slow-moving enemies give you a larger margin for error, encouraging strong attacks. Mobs of quicker enemies may be more demanding, prompting more well-timed fast attacks. Add Signs to the mix, and you've got some pretty solid gameplay. It's a combat system that demands and rewards keen observation and quick reflexes. You have to pay attention to the enemy animations and react accordingly, e.g. roll? dodge? Put up a Quen shield? Counterattack? Hit him with Aard Fus Roh Dah before he can finish the animation? The choice is yours. It's a deceptively engaging combat system, layered with meaningful and satisfying choices, that takes actual skill to master.

The two biggest problems i had with the game is how the combat is too simple for a 100+ hours game and the other problem is that the game feels rush in the final part, eveything happen too fast. The Wild Hunt still has an average of 12,000 - 20,000 players at a time, and that's just on Steam. I liked the combat a lot with Mouse & Keyboard, but it had a mastery curve that made it unappealing to a lot of people. I can't wait to try the new mod out. Sounds like they put a lot of work into it. Hopefully they are watching the feedback, and using it to create an even more epic experience in Cyberpunk

This is one of the reasons why I have not started playing witcher 3 yet (even thou I bought the game). I knew if I waited a bit id get graphics overhauls, mods etc. Same reason I have not played Skyrim yet. The 3 things that always bugs me in Witcher 3 are: 1. Small objects on the ground becoming unleapable when you're in combat mode. 2. Swimming and diving...... mostly the graceless dive maneuvering. 3. The clumsy npc collision system. Npcs tend to walk into you as though you're invisible and then bump off of you like you leaned into them. The NPC Collision system should be more like Assassin's Creed.

I did, played the game for almost 200 hours on Death March, have the achievement to kill all projections of Olgierd in Hearts of Stone. Really enjoyed movement mechanics and combat. I have a 360 controller but prefer keyboard and mouse in games like that.

What kind of matrix is this?! Yesterday, I was on Nexus for, you know, skyrim but for whatever reason I decided to look at the Witcher 3 section. NEVER done that before, despite having the game. I can safely say Witcher3 is not worth playing if you dislike the combat system enough to stop playing it. It doesn't get any better, the mod would need to turn it from a hack n slash to something else entirely to actually fix it.

id go as far to say that mod support is ESSENTIAL for single player games! bethesda got my money twice! once on xbox (and all the dlc's separately as i played through them) and again after i got a pc with the complete edition or whatever it was again with all dlc, specifically so i could mod it and extend the games lifespan. from extra quests to bug fixes to free expansion pack sized dlc's. if i just had it on xbox 360, i'd of stopped playing like i did after about a year, yet i still play it to this day! theres plenty of other examples i could throw out there like xcom 2 with its long war mod, or grand theft auto as prime examples but skyrim for me was that one. it taught me so much about game files and how to troubleshoot effectively and all that stuff! modding has literally taught me more useful shit than my highschool ever did!

Pav94an I love how you need to define your criteria sooooo specifically... open world medieval combat. It's melee combat, period. Whether or not it's medieval doesn't matter in any way. Whether it's open world doesn't matter in any way. Compare W3 to literally any melee based combat system from this generation, and it's pretty bad compared to almost any game you could name.

fzdreaddy hehe... I don’t even like AC games. If they removed that whole bit about having to go back to the future and shit I’d play it. I don’t think it adds anything to the game to arbitrarily take you out of the fun world to play as some other doofus. Especially when Ubisoft seems to do a good job designing the overworlds. I think the Witcher made an incredibly compelling world to live in, I think the lore and the monsters are all done really well. But the mideival ninja whose superpower is that women want to bang him...? That’s stupid. That’s a fan fiction character. I think if the Witcher launched with the ability to make your own character, I’d have found it much more enjoyable. But then it’s very similar to a Bethesda game.

The problem some people have with Witcher 3's combat is that it mixes combat from Batman Arkham games and Dark Souls, so some people expect it to work as one or the other, and it doesn't, so it pisses them off and they blame the game. Personally, I, as many others, didn't have an issue with it at all. It was smooth, slick and responsive, however it does have its faults like sometimes when fighting groups of enemies(drowners, neckers, wolves etc.) targeting system can be a bit off, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Also, later in the game, it can get kinda easy once you get used to it and get new abilities and gear, especially in 1v1 fights, which are incredibly easy, even on deathmarch. However, that didn't take the fun off the game, because it all felt unique because of the world and quest design, and it was always satisfying. 8.5/10 for the combat alone, with gameplay still being an easy 10/10 because of the world and quests(which are also very big part of the gameplay, in case you forgot, as many people do). Also, if you look at the reviews, almost none of them had issues with the combat, but in the contrary, they praised it( if you don't believe game review sites, check ACG, Elder Geek, Angry Joe or Idiotech, they all praised it too), so it's just people's fault, not the game's.

Dear guys, as I'm a noob in combat, so I'm happy with TW3's combat system, and I don't need a mod for coming back to the game. But I see both points. Mods and community engangement keep games (esp. single player games) running for a long(er) time. Developers who support modding are just great and often create a good reputation for themselves by it. Unfortunately CDPR's support for TW3 mods doesn't seem so good as for the first two games (as far as I heard) and btw: I'd really like to have TW1 in the TW3 engine (mainly for the graphics, because I think the alchemy and combat systems in TW1 are much more demanding and closer to the books than those of TW3). As I said, I really like the TW1 combat system and the more elaborate alchemy system - and I see why skilled players think TW3's combat is too easy (e.g. if you can't defeat your opponent by skill or power, just eat as much food as is in your inventory until the fight is over. There is no food eating or potion drinking aninmation slowing you down, and that's lame). So this mod is great for players who want a little challenge. CU twinmama

This is an awesome mod for Witcher 3, as I remember the first time I was Playing it I got so emerged into the world, that I went to stroll over the forest. But as I went near the cemetery, the lvl 12 ghoul attacked me (and I was only level 2-3). It was so ridiculous to get so completely beaten by the creature which in lore the Witcher can kill with his eyes closed.

I played and beat the witcher 3(with all the DLC) on PS4 2 years ago. Now i will probably buy it for PC(now i have a gaming PC) and play it with this mod(most likely other mods too) :D. It is probably the only game ever i would gladly pay twice to play it!!!!
