Facts! Despite the fact that the games take place after the events of the books and are their own story, they manage to keep the spirit of the books. And not through cheap callbacks and references either. They understand the feel and the message of the books and build on them. Netflix does the opposite, they take some of the better known sequences, modify them and put them on top of their own propaganda. It's disgusting and despicable. I would love to see a Japanese anime of the witcher, by a person who appreciates the books. When I'm reading the books I can tell that the story would be perfect for anime adaptation. It would be the perfect platform to include the multiple characters' views and the complicated timeline with the flashbacks and flashforwards. I'd gladly dedicate my life to this vision if I had the talent and the resources.

Aaron Richards From Wikipedia: _________________ The Witcher Stories - Miecz Przeznaczenia (The Sword of Destiny) (1992) - Ostatnie życzenie (The Last Wish) (1993, English edition: 2008). Note that, while "The Last Wish" was published after "The Sword of Destiny," the stories contained in "The Last Wish" take place first chronologically, and many of the individual stories were published before "The Sword of Destiny." The Saga - Krew elfów (Blood of Elves) (1994, English edition: 2008) - Czas pogardy (The Time of Contempt) (1995, English edition: 2013) - Chrzest ognia (Baptism of Fire) (1996, English Edition: February 2014) - Wieża Jaskółki (The Swallow's Tower) (1997) - Pani Jeziora (Lady of the Lake) (1999) - Sezon burz (Season of Storms) (2013) - Prequel story, which takes place before the events of Krew elfów. ____________ I'd suggest to read in given order. Alternatively you can start by reading Season of storms first. It takes place before events imaged in the video and doesn't spoil anything from the Saga, but gives a good set up for Geralt - Yennefer relationship.
@veronikavartanova404410 жыл бұрын
dfeekt I must say, I much prefer the first two books (stories). With the Saga, I was all in it up until the focus of the narration clearly shifted from Gerald to Ziri. His involvement with actually important matters - as well as with the actual monster-killing - had also been minimized. Gee, I hope the game studio won't repeat that plotwise in TW3. Ziri is not very interesting of a character, and I want to see Gerald do the staff that really has some impact. Although a lot was happening, I was constantly bored through the last few books =P PS: Still gotta read the new one and I have HUGE hopes and anticipation for this year game!

@BrUSomania10 жыл бұрын
Well, he doesn't want to kill the striga since he wants to save the girl whose been cursed. You probably already know this but he can only break the curse by surviving a night with the striga, close to its sarcophagus. That's why he scared it back to its crypt.
@ecvent0r10 жыл бұрын
BrUSomania You're right about how the curse needed to be dealt with, and yes I read all the books except Season of Storms which I am currently reading. But some of the moments when I feel like he is toying with her are: when he was casting Aard and released it right when she was about to bite him and that punch on the roof. The moment when he snarls is when he starts to get serious in my view. And then he proves the point by cutting just a little bit of her hair. The interesting point is however that I don't remember him being so self confident in the book.
@BrUSomania10 жыл бұрын
Yes, he is probably toying a bit more with her than I thought. I just thought he did it to show that he was in control, and to build up intimidation.

***** Not entirely true. He is ordered to try anything in his power to lift the curse, keep in mind Geralt wasn't 100% sure that a night with the Striga would do it, he knew that difficult cases required 3 nights, some event not doable, which is what he also informed the king about. What he was told though is not to be foolish enough to accept the deal of some of the nobles to just get rid of her by killing her, without even trying.

This battle in Netflix version is pathetic in my opinion. Striga is grappler who is just tossing Geralt around? What the hell... This video has done this fight such justice... It simply goes by the book. Netflix didn't have to go that way exactly, but they could have at least honored Geralt fighting capabilities, not make him into throwing bag and Striga into WWE Wrestler. I'm so disappointed how they recreated this fight. And whats with Geralt losing his sword all the time mid combat? That should never happen. I hate that pathetic need for creating drama without any need for it and complete lack imagination on how to do so.

intro is based on a first story about Geralt titled "Witcher" from book "the last wish". The game tells the story after saga. There are 2 volumes with short stories and 5 volumes of witchers saga

It's funny how he barely got touched by the Striga at all, and then he almost got a fatal wound on his neck by the princess when she was already untransformed.

No, both are RPG's. However Skyrim is strictly a western RPG, where you become the protagonist, which in turn means the focus is on individual expression. The Witcher on the other hand is more like a JRPG, where you control a character already made, which allows for a carefully crafted story and narrative.

Here i am after Netflix witcher ep.3, to see a Witcher bullying a poor striga. Not vice versa.
@cosmic27504 жыл бұрын
You can surely keep your thinking... But I think the show fight is slightly more realistic. I mean, a Striga is a monster. Shouldn't be as intimidated as in this cinematic, but a little more bold and fight against Geralt...

Witcher 4 is back in it's roots. The actual monsters are not always who they seem to be in the first place. "There are no Gods here, there are only monsters."

Hey boys lets all be civil Tes fans stop arguing with Witcher fans we have been here before your game was born but never mind all that.In my point off view they are both great games and have lots off things to offer.I am a Tes fan myself but when I played Witcher 2 I fell in love instantly it is such a great game.It kinda reminds me off Mass effect Paragon,Renegade and Neutral decisions.The Witcher is based on decisions and Skyrim is based on exploring and being what ever you want to be.
