Fascinating and enthralling little homage to "The Witches," and Hambleden, which I have been visiting since childhood and still do today. Thank you!

Excellent location tour , it always amazes me how where these England based films were shot still look basically the same today . Hope you have the opportunity to film more of these , maybe even one for Raw Meat

Deathline/Raw Meat would be tricky, a lot of it was filmed at the disused station in Aldwich, which is closed to the public.

Thank you so much for this piece. Particularly enjoyable for me as I lived just up the hill from the church for decades. Used all those local shops, school and services that you point out, including Wheelers the butchers that ceased trading in the 90s(?) but the frontage is still kept as it was. I often try to convince people how often the village was taken over by film crews, I’ll refer them to your film as part of that now! Brought back far too many memories for me to share here. Very enjoyable, thank you. (I do appreciate the time and skills required to put this film together)

Thanks for your kind words, I actually found a couple of other films in my collection that were filmed there after I uploaded the video, as well as segments of Little Britain. Wish I'd realised at the time as I would have mentioned these too. Would love to do more of these location videos, but really struggling to find the time.

@@Realm-of-Horror Your swift response has encouraged me to recount a quick anecdote. Very often the locals would get involved as extras for whatever film. On this occasion it was 101 Dalmations, a scene inside the Stag & Huntsman. The locals were to play the part of locals in the local! The deal was free drinks but they were issued with two glasses each. One to be used for the free drinks and the other, part filled not to be used, for the sake of continuity cutting. Needless to say, a good time was had by all. I’ll leave you in peace now, best wishes.

it's amazing just how many films have used the same location, if I hadn't seen your video I'd never have known despite seeing all the films you mentioned in the video, keep them coming, it's great seeing how places used to be back in the day, it also helps that you film from as near to the exact spot as the original camera locations, good commentary as well 👍👍👍

Very,very well done. Watched it many times. Love how the video ends with RR Bennett's great music for the end credits of the film. I may be in the minority but I prefer this film to THE DEVIL RIDES which is a big favorite among Hammer film buffs. It's a nice film but it doesn't scare me one little bit. Watching THE WITCHES, is like reading one of Ramsey Campbell's quietly menacing novels. Very subtle and creepy film.

Cool man! Great idea for a video. I wanted to do a coffee table book of famous movie locations, left side being the place as it appeared in the film, right side being the place as it appears now. i can tell you here in the states, i'm not sure there are a lot of locations for half-century old movies that wouldn't be totally unrecognizable now, though.

Great video mate. I love these location videos. They make me want to visit some places too. I don't live far from Orford Castle where they filmed the ending of Witchfinder General. It's open to the public. Also not far away is where they filmed a scene of a so called witch being burned. I guess you have seen the film?
@Realm-of-Horror10 жыл бұрын
That's another film I'm considering doing a location video of!
@KnightZ198710 жыл бұрын
That would be awesome! Ive not done too much research, but Matthew Hopkins carried out quite a bit of 'the lords work' here in East Anglia. Orford Castle is open to the public, so there should be some real good shots for you to take there!

KnightZ1987 a lot of it was filmed around Norfolk and Suffolk, which isn't too far from me, so its definitely on my list.

That would be great. I was reading about the relationship between Vincent Price and the director. That's a story in itself. It must have been challenging for Vincent knowing the director just didn't want him near the film.
@KnightZ198710 жыл бұрын
Well that was the impression he was giving Vincent anyway. This could have been slightly planned to get the vicious side out of Price.

Thanks so much for making and sharing this location video, brilliantly made! I too have visited this little village about six years ago primarily because of Hammers great cult film and also Joan Fontaine's last cinema screened film! Can I just ask......... Was the pond and fields where Joan Fontaine was run over by the flocks of sheep filmed in or near Hambleden also? I couldn't find any pond located amongst fields when I visited. Would be interested to see what you think. Great work! Jace.
@Realm-of-Horror7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason I cannot be certain, I did scope the place out extensively on google earth prior to my visit and again afterwards, but couldn't find anywhere that resembled this location. Probably filmed somewhere along the River Thames, either near Hamleden, or near Hammers Bray studios, which were also located along the Thames.
@jasonclark85447 жыл бұрын
DarkAngel182 Thanks again bud. Yeah, wouldn't be a bit surprised if that exterior scene was filmed where you said, or Black Park, Over Heath like a lot of other Hammer films. Take care and happy film making!

Jason, I think you are nearly right with Black Park but wrong side of the A412; cross that and you're in Langley Park where there is a long serpentine like lake. I'm pretty sure this is where the sheep scene was filmed.
