"The Wolf & The Raven" REDRAW |-Wolf Speedpaint-| Medibang Paint Pro [#62]

It feels good to draw again!
I haven't been able to create anything new for nearly 2 months due to a new puppy and my pen breaking on me. But I finally was able to sit down and create this!
I've been wanting to redraw this piece for awhile now. As much as I loved it at the time, there were definitely parts to it that bothered me. The raven, mainly, was something I wanted to change. In the older version it was more like a crow with how small it was. This time I had it flying out in front of the wolf for a more dynamic and interesting look. I used to struggle with birds so much, it was really nice to be able to just whip up a sketch without thinking twice.
I struggled a lot during the process, but now that it's over I'm in love with this drawing! I hope you guys like it as well. ^^

I love freeze motion captures and the way you've drawn it on the raven. The eye almost aligns with the wolf. You come up with amazing ideas, I wonder if there's more to know behind the painting.

First, how was your day? Also how is your new puppy and chinchillas doing? Second, I'm sorry I haven't really been comments on your videos but I kept forgetting and I didn't know what to say. On to more important things, this piece is amazing I love the background you did and how even though it looks kinda simple it's atill ended looking very detailed and very fitting to the atmosphere in the piece. The improvement from 2018 to now is very visible you have improved by leaps and bounds, the drawing here is more detailed and has better anatomy and looks more wolf like compared to the previous version, same thing with the Raven. I don't know why but I love the design of these characters even though the design are kinda simple(no offense not trying to be mean) I still really love it. I don't know what else to really talk about, oh how is your quarantine and if your in school is your school out for the rest of the year and are you doing online school? I'm kinda mad my school got cancelled since I won't be able to finish my freshman year, but at least I don't have to take finals plus remote learning is pretty easy. And as always sorry this comment is so long.

Hello! My puppy is doing great, he has his issues but we're working on them. Sadly I lost one of my little guys a few months back, my other is doing alright despite the loss though. I've done online classes for a few years now so I haven't really been affected much, should still be going till June. About the art: Thank you so much! I'm glad that I've come so far and feel as confident as I do when it comes to my work. ^^ Definitely no offense taken! My characters tend to be on the more simplistic side, and simple yet elegant is exactly what I wanted with the wolf. ^^

First of all, this looks amazing! I've been following you for years and the improvement is amazing!! But now for some medibang questions: Do you use the default pen in medibang? And also what size canvas do you use? I always get the annoying grid lines when I zoom in and I havent figured a way to turn it of/get around it? Any tips for that?

Firstly, thank you so much! Secondly, yes, I primarily use the default pen brush for my lineart, coloring, and cell shading! You can see what size canvas I'm using in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. My sizes usually range from around 1500*2500 to around 2500*3500. And yes, those grids! Go up into the "View" tab and uncheck the box for "pixel grid". I hope this helped! ^^

I use Medibang Paint Pro on the computer and a Huion drawing tablet to make my artwork! Medibang has a mobile app as well, but the pro version is only free on the computer.

Hey I love your work! I got a question: Which software do you use to edit your recordered video? I tried a few ones, but the most are really bad or even some tools are missing and I need one for free where I can edit my video with speed, text and music

I've found Movie Maker to be the easiest for editing! This video was edited entirely with it. Nowadays I also use DaVinci Resolve, though I honestly find it more difficult to use. I use movie maker for the initial time-lapse and some transitions and then resolve for the dynamic zooms and endscreen. ^^

And how do you know where the shadows hit Like how they form the face off like that?

Overtime I sort of learned how the face is shaped enough to be able to guess how the light would hit and be cut off for shadows. It could help you to look at some photographs of dogs (or whatever else you'd like to draw) with high contrast lighting to use as reference!

What kind of settings exactly? My shading layers are set to Multiply and I usually have highlights set to Add, if that helps. ^^

There are several screen recording programs you can find online. I use Hypercam2, which is free and pretty simple to use. ^^ There are some recorders that double as a video editing software as well!
