The Wolverines of Hellroaring Mountain

That's right -- we're talking about wolverines today! Of all the animals we've wanted to add to the game, wolverines have been one of our favorites. Wolverines are notoriously fierce and feisty -- with their formidable claws and jaws, they can and do take on larger and more powerful animals. The problem has been that they don't really live in Yellowstone National Park. A survey in 2009 found a few wolverines in only two areas of the park: the southeast and one area of the northern border -- which, as it turns out, is where our upcoming Hellroaring Mountain DLC map is located! So we took this opportunity to add wolverines to the game, only on this new map.
Wolverines will put up a heck of a fight if you challenge them over a carcass. And they've got some new moves you haven't seen before (thanks to animator Zoltán Záhorszki, who created all of the wolverine's animations).

Once the game is completed on PC/Mac, we will consider porting the game to other platforms.

Been following wolf quest since 2008. Between then and now I have seen numerous dev teams come and go. These guys are the real deal, most dedicated devs I’ve ever witnessed.

I LOVE how the wolverine has those two "special attacks". You don't let the animals just bitte each other like many animal simulators do, they really have diversity you can see in their attacks and behaviour, and I love that! :D I'm really excited to see them in the game! They definetly seem tougher than coyotes XD

Wow yesterday I was actually wondering about the progress on the bison cows and calfs, however I’m happy to see wolverines coming!! The more animals the better game will be. Plus I think it’s actually cool they’ll be exclusive to the HR map, much like dogs, cats, and the cattle ranch are exclusive to the LR map.

I absolutely love having some map specific animals. It makes the map more unique and interesting. Also Hellroaring Mountain now feels like it could be challenging compared to the others. Since the loss of an easy food source and added fiercer carcass threat, food may be a bigger worry than before. And I welcome that type of challenge happily, it sounds really fun and fresh, I can’t wait to play it.

I'm also of the opinion that map-exclusive animals is a cool thing. It will give more playstyle options for sure. AM is a year round map now, so if you're still working on bighorns it would be neat to have a use special for the big hole in the map! Not a hole, but the cliffs are so steep it may as well be for marking ;)

Oh, this is so cool! I had no idea they lived around there, and I like how each map has its own uniqueness, much like how Lost River only has certain kinds of wildlife there. I was thinking about wolverines and what they would be like in the WQ world a few times... never expected them to pop up so soon! WOW! I had to play the animations clip a couple times, it's amazing! I love the challenging animals in the game, and this looks like it will be. It'll be funny to see other players get attacked by the wolverine in this way. Can't wait to see them in the game!

That is so cool but what they should also add in the future is your able to see like foxes and coyotes den up for the spring time or like you can come across them as your strolling through the woods. I love this game and I know I will never stop playing it! Good job!!❤❤❤

Well this was a pleasant surprise. Wasn't expecting a new animal this soon. Looks like fighting these guys is going to be quite scary and need some solid tactics. Just rushing in is a good way to get your face and belly removed. Appropriate that they start ready to fight, haha. I am relieved that they aren't going to be raiding our dens, we've got enough threats to worry about! Also can I just admire how well you've done both in the Wolverine's own animations, and in the modified wolf animations? Although I imagine that's at least partially down to your awesome interactive fighting IK that allows animals to drag each other around (ref the really old "Bite Club" vids). Because the wolf fighting animations are so well synchronized (kudos!) it actually doesn't demonstrate this system very well. These wolverines really show it off well though.

great addition!! another animal i'd like to see is a pika(i believe these live in yellowstone?), and they would be someone you aren't able to catch. it would be so cute to see them just pop up from a rocky cliffside and then go back into its crevices.

great job ! keep up the good work! i have a suggestion. ive watched some documentaries of wolves finding a mate, and sometimes they found a dispersal group and took both the wolves into the pack, but the other wolf which u chose was domiannt breeding pair so im just suggesting this sorry if it doesnt make sense tho

Well I finally got my paws on the game but it's giving me some trouble. Hunting is giving me trouble. I'm having trouble tracking the play and before I get close enough to do anything the priey flees.. of course I expect it to flee, I'm just having trouble. I've already died three times but this girl does not give up easily so I'm going to keep trying. Even though I'm having trouble it's a great game, very beautiful and I love the customibility of your Wolves and the idea of Wolverines is interesting. I wasn't even expecting to get the game yet but my father got it for me as an early birthday gift since my birthday is next Wednesday, so I'm very happy. I'm just going to keep trying till I get it figured out.
