Some Viking Metal inspired by the VI legion. A song that serves as a drinking anthem to sing in the halls of Fenris but also to shout out on a battlefield. I wanted to really capture the ferocity of the wolves, their own ideas of grandeur but how they tear down the ideals of honour & glory other legions have. Another element to the song is the Space Wolves refusing to break up their legion after the Horus Heresy but it also works as a Burn of Prospero song too.

This song truly does encapsulate the Rout of 30k, they are grim weapons forged for annihilation willing to do anything that their Allfather asks of them no matter how horrific. The weapons of last resort indeed.

Meanwhile the 40k version of the wolves are the honorable noble savages. The do NOT protect the Imperium...they protect HUMANITY. They are honorable and just, never firing upon the Inquisition even after losing two ships. However...the Grey Knights, the Red Scorpions (hell they almost went extinct), and the Inquisition learned an important lesson during the Months of Shame. You do not cross the Wolves of Fenris. They were handed a duty and their honor demands they uphold it. They will turn their fangs upon the Imperium itself if need be to follow it through. Yes, the Grey Knights are powerful and have shiny new gear compared to most legions. They were even given (legitimately heretical in the eyes of Mars) upgrades to their armor not afforded to other legions. The upgrades however...did nothing against the Wolves. The oh so special elite of the elite chapter of astartes (according to the Inquisition and fanboys) got ripped apart by the space Vikings. Sending a chapter full of psykers, that rely on their psyker abilities...against an entire legion (remember the Wolves maintain lesser legion numbers) of individuals who are resilient and resistant against psykers was about the most idiotic play the Inquisition ever did. I am including Kryptman in this and that is saying something.

Okay recently got into Warhammer 40 k from a combo of Darktide and the Inquistor Marty game anyone have book suggestions for the Space Wolves? Sort of. Forges of Mars is my favourite sci-fi series and while the rogue trader Roboute Surcouf did inspire some lyric ideas it didn’t lead to a song, I used those ideas for other faction songs though about exploring space. Maybe when the game is out it might inspire a future song.
