She was a 21-year-old social influencer who gained thousands of followers for her inspirational story. Diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, Belle Gibson was given just four months to live. But against all odds, through following a wellness diet, she cured herself... But this was all a lie. Belle didn’t have cancer at all. It was a scam! As a new ITVX documentary, In Search of Instagram's Worst Con Artist, aims to dig into Belle’s story, we find out from Chanelle McAuliffe, Belle’s former friend, alongside Forensic Psychiatrist Dr Sohom Das, how she managed to dupe millions.

Brittany Miller a TikTok content creator has also done this.. her followers have recently come across the evidence of this online and anytime someone questions her or asks her to speak out, she blocks the person.. clearly guilty of something. She needs to be cancelled.

She only had compassion for herself. It's fascinating watching a person continue to lie after they've been found found out. Like the Rachel Dolezal and Prince Andrew interviews. Love watching their expressions and responses.

I saw that. She genuinely tried to convince the viewers that she had done nothing wrong and she was the victim. She also cried and apologised, which contradicts her initial claims of doing no wrong.

I had cancer and was working in the same company as another woman who lied about having cancer lied to elderly clients to gain sympathy etc they asked me about what she was saying and it was just ridiculous, people who do this just make things harder for those whose lives are genuinely hard. I have come across many who exaggerate and put on the poor me stuff just to gain sympathy and manipulate and control 😢

I feel genuinely heartbroken for anyone thats watching this video having genuinely gone through cancer and came out the other side and fought the disease. What must they be thinking of this person who pretended to have it for money and followers!

I had Cancer and my past boss didn’t believe me and insisted on me showing prove from my GP. Horrendous behaviour 😢

@@sjanex No apologies but made me realise what a horrible toxic workplace I worked in for 5 years. Showed how bad mannered lacking empathy she surely was. In the end it was a blessing as I got a new job with a lovely manager and much higher wages.

She says she was told she was a few different ages, ie: birthdates. She seems to be passing the responsibility into someone else.

She went to Wynnum State High School in Manly Queensland with my daughter…she lied back then she dropped out in year 10 claimed she was homeschooled…she worked at PFD Foods at Lytton as a trainee caterer…she was completely convincing with her lying…she had a wellness app and got money from Penguin Books for a wellness book called The Whole Pantry…she even befriended a young boy with brain cancer…she claimed to help Ethopian community….she was completely manipulative…she has still not paid her fines…but it is rumoured she got about $45,000 for the interview on 60 Minutes…worst bit is her instagram account is still up….it was Media Watch on the ABC TV that broke the story….🇦🇺🇦🇺

A convincing liar? That's a lie. Lying isn't a natural act, so no one is good at it. You act and speak different when lying. Even the most successful con-artists on the planet are not convincing liars, that's why they only target vulnerable and gullible.

I watched the documentary today and I'm still in shock from it. This lady is clearly a sociopath not a liar. Very disordered personality type and not aware of the consequences to her actions or anything. I believe that's criminal what she is doing.

Absolutely but her home was raided and she was only fined..no criminal convictions and she still hasn’t put the fines..she is one very sick individual.

Watching her 60 minutes interview , the way she just kept going with the lies even when cornered, even when it obviously wasn't working and the I interviewer was holding the evidence, I have seen only 2 people do that in my real life. They also will change stories within 1 conversation as it's pointed out why the last thing they said was also a lie. It's so strange to watch, like a robot with a malfunction. But both of them did have antisocial personality disorder, and watching her handle herself exactly like those 2, did make me wonder of she was also some sort of sociopath.

Isn't it possible that someone else made the whole story up and devised the whole campaign, the whole Whole Pantry concept, and Belle was mainly asked to and agreed to figurehead it (armed with an NDA not to disclose the truth)? I've seen her interview on 60 Minutes Australia and to some extent it seems she has been fad a script of what to say in certain situations when being questioned, and some of her answers sound as if she's only making replies which she thinks are logical in such a situation. How did she get into contact with Apple and the published who published the cookbook. Normally twenty-year-old girls who do a few posts online do not have such contacts. nor would they perhaps by themselves think of seeking those high-level contacts at their own initiative (well, unless both Apple and the publisher approached her first). Someone else must have had these contacts and activated them on her behalf. This would also explain why to some extent she doesn't fit the typical image of a "scammer" or a "pathological liar", nor the clinical picture of Munchhausen's, as the experts on this program state.

Let’s not forget this show had a women called Amanda Riley doing similar on 22nd September to scam her friends…nor is she the only person to do similar to scam and make money by faking cancer.🇦🇺🇦🇺

I too have witnessed a cancer death. He received his diagnosis, 6 month prognosis and died within a year. Oncologists don't give those life expectancies lightly.

Try actually having cancer. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever endured and still being treated. My body is ravaged, I’m weak and scarred. My hair is shorter now and my meds have side effects. Belle is off her rocker.

She doesn't seem to have enough knowledge in traditional medicines, too, BUT luckily, she chose healthy food to treat cancer 😂, which doesn't do bad healthwise, and gives hope to cancer patients . It's worse for patients who stopped medical cancer treatment like chemotherapy, By the way, this is a winning lottery for journalists to make a few bucks.

Rylan gets on my nerves but I don't know why. He's a decent presenter, he's pleasant enough and I can't actually find any fault with him, so it's really not fair to him but I don't know what it is.
