It's the best line Soupy's ever written, there's so much in it, especially in the three different ways he says it, the first is like he's defeated, then the second is kind of like "no fuck that, it's just how I am" then the third is like he's accepted that's who he is and he's screaming it like it's a good thing.

Had a lot of late night cries in my car to this song. I’m in a much better place now. If you aren’t, it does get better. You’ll find what you love, one way or another. I've heard this song a thousand times, but every time I hear it, I can still feel the frustration and honesty that this song conveys. When Soupy screams "I'm awkward and nervous," I can feel that hitting every inch of my heart, mind, and soul. That's what real and passionate music sounds like. It's like time stops for a while so that I can relieve the emotions that I've kept bottled up or for others, it may be a chance to relive an emotion. That's the beauty of music and that's how I feel when I listen to TWY. =)

My amazing beautiful wife doesnt even listen to The Wonder Years. Btw, this was and is one of my top favorite bands. I just wanted to say, know I've found my soulmate cause my wife will randomly scream "CIGARETTE SMOKEEEE!!!", jokingly imitating the pop punk grunge. I love it so much. When we laugh and joke around I think back to when I was a bony knee kid hoping and praying i would make it out of Suburbia alive. Hoping the depression wouldn't eat me alive. Hoping my kids wont end up WEAK and helpless like how i felt (important to remember that you arent weak just because you feel weak, that you CAN get out and WILL!). I just cant say this enough - Thank you Soupy and TWY! And congrats on his son Wyatt being born in 2019. We made it man! Tears as i type this. Cheers to our golden years, may the ships we build never sink! 🥁🤟🏿♥️
