Find and keep a old trampoline. Put it down into your truck bed before loading loose material.

RM, thx for sharing maybe I’ll use that for a base I can put my outdoor boiler on. 👍

That about 1/2 cu/yd. crush concrete compact very well. A magnet is used to separate metal/rebar after crushing.

I’ve had a ton of crushed stone in the bed of my 96 Chevy K1500. Had to replace both of the the coil over shocks thanks to having it dumped in and driving home. Won’t ever have that much dumped in again.

I drive a dump truck and you are getting a good deal, and crushed concrete is awesome for driveway repair, it hardens better than crusher run. Wish I could go to your thrift store, you seem to get great deals. Semper-fi Devil dog

I'm interested in the crushed concrete as its a neat idea for a permeable driveway that's also environmentally friendly and not costly (the other option I was looking at was grass pavers but they seem really tough to maintain with cars driving over them all the time). But it looks like alot of it is crushed down to almost pulverized powder. I was hoping it was more like a gravel with mostly chunks of 1 inch in size.

My local concrete recycler sells me 3 tons or more for $24. My 9’ flatbed is FULL. There is rebar, nails, and many random pieces of metal in ours but I bought a big magnet from HFT to remove most all of the nails and junk. I’m happy with it for as cheap as I can buy this stuff vs real gravel.

that is incredibly cheap! good deal! my stuff is a little more refined than that, they have a giant magnet on the end of the crushing machine. i never find anythign in it.

I learned something today. Suppose it could be used as a base for interlocking stone patio.

It is indeed great stuff. The rebar and other metal is removed with magnets and sold for scrap. If put in a hole with sufficient depth and traffic over it, it will pack so its almost like solid concrete.

Edit: some smaller operators may crush without separating the metal, in which case, you really do have to watch out for steel bits which are guaranteed flat tires

Ive found some wire mesh in my crushed concrete. About 6 pieces found in two dump truck loads. So you have to be careful it doesnt puncture a tire. Im sure their were more peices of rebar in it, thats just what i saw on the surface when i was spreading it.

Half full truck bed is about a yard which is about 2000 pounds.

i have found one or two chunks of rebar. but since i manually spread it i think i catch it.

@renaissancemarinetv3536 I spread with a tractor, so if I see it on top I'll pick it out, but otherwise I don't see it being an issue.

My only concern with using this stuff is possibly having fiberglass reinforcement in it. I don't think there is a way to separate that like they do the rebar.

interesting point. dont know how common those are. i know fiberglass shards can be rough. i will keep an eye out.

I imagine the rebar being ductile as opposed to the brittle concrete helps to separate it when they demo it.

Renaissance MarineTV, I'm glad I found your video, I was going to get some regular crush r run gravel, but after doing some research, I think I'm going to get some fine crushed concrete to make a pad for my 16 x 56 mobile home, I believe it will compact better than crush r run gravel, what do you think? Thankx

i love the stuff and recommend it for roads. you might want to ask your mobile home installer if there is any reason it wont work.

@@renaissancemarinetv3536 He said from what he has seen is the fine crushed concrete did the same and maybe compacted a little better than the crush r run, and the concrete is 12$ a ton and the crush r run is 16$ a ton, From what you have seen with all the holes you have filled, would you say the crushed concrete compacts better than the crush r run? Thankx
