I have introduced this record to a select group of friends over the years and it has never elicited anything other than an overwhelming positive reaction. The most common response is "where were these guys hiding?"

I'm so happy that this is posted here! Love this album; saw them twice in Stroud as a lad; brilliant both times. Still a great record; no idea why it didn't take off in a more significant way. Brilliant stuff.

Good god I love this album! My dad used to work as a mechanic for the AA, back in the day, and he came home one evening with this album on tape, as a gift from "a lovely bunch of lads" who had broken down on their way to play a gig. Thus my love of The Wood Children was born, and here I am, 30 years later, and it still sounds spectacular. Now im going to have to see if I can find a replacement copy... happy days!

Vat of Tea and Mannipple are worth the the price of admission alone. Love this album - thanks for uploading.

Love this album .. haven't heard it in ages ! Remember buying it back in the day after my band did a gig with them at the Bull & Gate in Kentish Town. They were f***ing good live.

Bought this on a complete whim back in the day - one of the best such decisions ever. One of those "should have been massive" records.

Flashback - my best mate Daz got back from his first year at University with a tape for me of a band he'd just seen. The tape was Shopaholic. He knew as soon as he'd seen them that I'd love them as much as he did. He wasn't wrong - I played the tape until it snapped in my car's cassette player, then went out and bought it on vinyl (green cover) to tape again. I play it quite regularly, and consider The Wood Children one of the numerous bands from the latter half of the 1980s who deserved far more recognition than they received. Thanks for uploading this!

There was a second hand copy of this in Blitz, Waterford for ages (1990 - 1993). Was still there when the shop closed down. I recall the sleeve being green and blue though.

Jesus H. Christ! I just heard the track "Vat of Tea" (BBC Radio 1 Session Archive version) on the wonderful BBC Radio 6. I have never ever heard of these guys. WHAT A BAND!!! WOW!!! A quick skip through the tracks of this LP very clearly tells me: this band were the real deal. WOW! Such high quality, so shamefully overlooked. Thanks for this. Now I must squirrel out my own vinyl copy.

How did such a fine band slip under the radar and disappear into oblivion? Saw these live at the Leadmill and have to say they are one of the best bands I've ever seen live. A sin and a shame!
