So many survivalist experts on KZbin yet you're one of the only ones to tackle the *super* important issue of handling our body wastes in a hygienic, responsible and practical way. Cheers for that.
@jduff595 жыл бұрын
Having the guts to tackle this subject is outstanding in itself. How many outdoorsman videos even mention the camp head? It's just like on TV when no one ever uses a bathroom. A+ in my book. This is a real thing and can make camp life much healthier.

I like your design for some comfort in the woods. On long canoe trips one of the guys made a thrown for all of us to use. He took an old , folding , lawn chair and attached a toilet seat ( minus the solid top section ) to the seat portion of it. Each afternoon after locating a campsite we would dig a good hole , unfold the chair and set it over the hole. Then attach an old Folgers , plastic , coffee container to the leg which held the toilet paper. On the water it was folded and placed in the bottom of the canoe and camping gear was put on top of it , keeping the gear out of any water that might get in the canoe. We paddled the quiet Florida rivers from a week on some to the longest one down the Suwanee River.

If you spool the cord before you start wrapping, it will never catch any debris from the ground. It will also make life easier. Great video Soldier on.

Joseph Mckay i was about to say the same thing until i saw this comment. Normally using cordage in the field, I don’t even cut my cordage from the spool or hanking that i have it in until I’m ready to finish my wrapping/frapping by tying the cordage

I realize this video is a couple of years old but after showing it to the females of our little hiking group, making it little lower and adding a couple of cross poles (bars) for sitting on got their approval. Some of our hikes have lasted about a week so this setup is better than squatting over a hole. Always learning something new from your videos.

One of my favorite videos! I love learning new ways of making latrines. I like to dig an extra deep cat hole, as far as I can dig (usually to my shoulder). Then I find big rocks or boulders to use as a seat. Finally, I dig myself some stirrups, similar to a squatty potty. Great for birthing big dinners in the morning.

Another great video. I did one close to this many years ago in Boy Scouts. Only difference was that I had the second horizontal pole higher in the back to have something to lean back on for those slow movements. The tarps were really appreciated. You can also rig a paper holder with a stick as a roller and string to hang it somewhere handy. Just don't leave the paper out in rainy weather.

I loved that grab bar overhead, but I'm still looking for the handicap ramp for old guys like me to get onboard. Plus,... You need a plastic coffee can on cordage hanging from the grab bar to hold the TP. The cover also will help keep the paper dry. Hint : connect the lid to a string to keep secure from falling into the Achky Poo. Enjoy

Take some poles about 2" in diameter and long enough to go from the ground at the base of the tree to the bottom of your poles going across and just round lash them in place below the square lashings. Adds extra support, especially if something goes awry with a square lashing. Extra work but completely worth it.

Have not dug one since i was in Boy Scouts: the holding bar is a good addition. I was also trained to make 3 areas 1 sleeping, 2 latrine/hygiene, and cooking/ eating.
