Hi Vanissia! I am so looking forward to your next video about your favourite yarns! I would love to know what you think about how yarns hold up over time. their durability and the maintenance required in terms of how often they need to be de-pilled. I feel like with most podcasts we only ever get to see an opinion of a yarn right after a project is finished but rarely after a year or longer of wear. I've really been enjoying the 'well loved knits' segment of Finnish Knitting Stories podcast where Jana pulls out an old project and shows how the yarn has held up over time. Your sunflower socks are so cute and I really like your idea for mirrored cables on the Lauder vest, can't wait to see it finished! Love from Canada!

Hi Vanissia, a very enjoyable episode - as always. Those sweaters looked amazing on your mum, how wonderful! I am really happy to see you entering the Highland Show - even if the judges don't choose your items for a prize it really is the entering which is so fun. I don't know what qualifications the judges have - maybe someone knows - but very often at other shows they are from the WRI (Women's Rural Institute) or some similar organisation. They have their own (very odd and old-fashioned to my mind) rules. For example, in vegetable classes they choose large vegetables rather than those which have been grown with skill and harvested at absolutely their best point for the kitchen. It's the same in baking classes- quality of ingredients and edibility counts for far less than petty rules around whether a cake should have a layer of jam, or not! I think it would be great if some of the knitting shows -like the Wooly Good Gathering - would consider having knitting competitions. I wonder if they would consider it? Imagine how wonderful it would be to peruse all the entries! Have a lovely week, the forecast is bringing the cold weather back so you may get some wear out of your new jersey yet.

Great job on the colour work socks. I’ve knit quit a few of Charlotte’s (Stone Knits) patterns and the best thing I’ve found for keeping the colourwork even is to use 9” circular needles. I don’t use them for anything except colourwork on socks but they are great because you don’t have the issue of awkward floats over the magic loop spots.

Hi, I had the same problem at the joints of my socks when working with magic loop. I watched a video from Clo tricot and she explains that if you want a neat joint you shouldn’t pull on the thread but just get the needles as close as possible from each other…so that your tension stays the same. It worked perfectly…I never pulled on the thread again.

Lovely episode! I wish I could knit more cowls and accessories since it seems like a satisfying way to experiment with more motifs and color pairings, but it just doesn’t really get cold enough where I live. I do think I need to try some of Stone Knits’ sock patterns at some point - they are gorgeous!

I like using magic loop for small circumference too and had the same issue with color work at the flat edge on the cuff where it is so easy to cut the corner with floats, even when trying to be mindful not too. Switched to my small circulars for the second color work cuff and had no issues and knit up so much faster. Now I mix my tools… Still, your socks look adorable and have inspired me. It might be time for me to revisit sock knitting.😊

I always knit my magic looped, stranded colour work socks inside out to get better tension not only at the end of the needles but in general. Maybe you have already tried this? I have some John arbon sock yarn in stash that I haven't tried yet. I guess it might be interesting as I was planning to use it for colour work socks!

Hi Vanissia! The MW's cowl is coming along beautifully! With alot of color changes in a colorwork project, I use a spray bottle of water. I don't like the taste of wool in my mouth :)

these ones are simpler than other cabled socks because i can do them without a cable needle, so that takes some pressure off ! but definitely better to practice cables on larger projects !

I couldn't wait for this podcast I am so curious what you're going to do with your other jumper. I love it so much even when it's so oversized and has long sleeves. I am looking forward to the Lauder pattern to be out. I definitely want to buy that one. Please 🙏 would you have any suggestions for jumpers/sweaters/cardigans with deep yolk? I am size S but have fairly wide shoulders and everything is always so short underarm. Plus I do like a looooot of space in the underarm area. So I can wear garments without any other jacket over them.

OOh I love spit splicing but no, no, no spit. I go to the sink and use hot tap water and one drop of dish soap. The way I look at it, I sit for too long at a time when I knit. So this just gives me the opportunity to get up and move occasionally. My spit splicing has been influenced by my days of nuno felting, hot water and soap felts very well. Great episode as always.. You've really piqued my interest on the Burra cowl.

I have found that if I turn my small circumference colorwork knits inside out, this causes the yarn to go around the outside of the tube rather than be carried along on the inside. This helps to diminish the tight transitions where the needles change. This works with magic loop and with DPNs. Hope this works for others!

As someone with two pairs of socks knit in Exmoor sock yarn: I strongly recommend against putting your Exmoor socks in the washer. These are the only hand knit socks that have felted/shrunk (and from the first wash). I'm so disappointed in the John Arbon sock yarn and how it's worn. It looks beautiful, but it does not wear well.
