Subtitles added for this one! There were some technical issues during the process but I’m relieved it’s fixed. Will add subtitles to the previous videos soon.

One thing Ive found with aesthetics as someone that also designed outfits for looks I like: It tends to blur the line between Grunge, Y2K, and Cottagecore. I like French and Japanese folk music, and some Goth Rock. But I didnt anticipate how often my aesthetic taste is confused for Goth Rock.

I like cottage core but not the flowy dresses but the lifestyle and practical clothing for gardening

why nobody talk about the fact that the word aestethic became popular around 2010 with the internet based musical genre "vaporwave", that's the only place to dig if you wanna understand the history of this word on internet.

i found this video interesting, very nice! something I've noticed about some aesthetics is a theme of escapism? like ive seen many fans of some aesthetics want to escape to a certain life, be that a more idealised version of a real lifestyle or something more fantastical. An example would be some dark academia fans ive seen want to feel like they are a character in a mystery set in an old boarding school or something similar, and enjoy stories like that. Personally i don't like how limiting internet aesthetics can be, it can be so broad yet so specific at the same time if that makes sense?

I'm always amazed by the quality of your videos. You clearly put a ton of time to research the topic and structure the video by writing a script. And they're always good! When it comes to subcultures, aesthetics, or communities, I like being a part of a small niche. I get this sort of intimate connection to the medium, be it music, anime, a movie or anything else. And for some reason your videos evoke similar emotion, I'm glad I'm here to see them.

Good video 👍🏻 You know it's very interesting how captivating people are with the fashion and fun side of subcultures more than the general ideology of it. Very strange or maybe it's just me.

I think it could be because it's easier for many people to get to know the basics or the visual styles first (not that it's a bad thing). And then when they find it interesting, they might continue to learn more about their values or ideology,

@@kjrasa Well they can always call themselves darkly inclined or alternative or think of another word to label themselves as. Also they don't need the so called "Goth" title if they don't listen to the music.

I really like this video and wanted to use it to write a paper i have to write but idk if teachers will accept a youtube video as a reliable source... Do you by chance have links and/or names of sites/books from where you took the informations? i will credit you too, but if it isnt enough for the techers i need to credit other things

For aesthetics in philosophy, there are a few encyclopedia that are quite useful. I've just put those in the description of the video a while ago. But if you are talking about the internet aesthetics, I don't know if what I have will be enough for an academic paper as I also watch KZbin videos and read blog posts for this. However, I've also included some insightful reads about the internet aesthetics for you in the description also. Hope it helps.

I wonder if internet aesthetics are overcomplicating or oversiplyfying things. One thing is sure - they are abominations. As for someone coming from long line of farmers and beekeepers something like cottagecore is just dumb and I think others [for example people with large knowledge about history] can see the dumbness too. Dressing a certain way and choosing a certain lifestyle is fine, but the ignorance coming with it is somethig I will never tolerate.

Thank you for your comment. Glad to hear from your perspective. For me, I appreciate that there are people who use aesthetics to motivate themselves in a positive way. However, as I mentioned, things like buying lots of clothes from fast-fashion brands just to fit in a style would not be something I encourage too.

Thanks for this well researched and informative video! But - if you make a video about aesthetics please learn how to pronounce it correctly :D. It's called aesTHEtics (the second syllable is stressed). It's just a bit distracting. Apart from that, great work!

Thank you so much! Will make sure to pronounce it properly next time.
