I was building one out of a regular fan, but thanks for reminding me that I had a much better fan collecting (lots) of dust in the attic. Works like a charm!

really like the fact so many of you creative/inventive people help the rest of us out with your DIY builds. Thanks for this video. Very informative without becoming long winded or boring like some tend to do. you showed enough work and explained enough to make this a very helpful and great video. also, great build. :) Thank you.

I think the filters will always be a bit under size, they are made to fit a 20 x 25 (or whatever) slot.

As an added bonus with pocket holes, you don't have to wait 17 hours for the glue to set up.

This was a great build Ron. I see you did this several years ago but I just now came across it searching for workshop air cleaner ideas. Keep up the great content! This is an excellent idea to reutilize a furnace fan. You've got me thinking! Thanks for taking the time to document and share.

This video is a godsend, thank you! I've been given two home-use furnace/fireplace fans, one around 500 m3/h and the other 100 less, which is more than enough. My question is whether you'd recommend a setup like yours for a spray painting booth? I would be using both water- and reducer-soluble paints. They're both IP54 secure.
@roncalverley7 жыл бұрын
Every auto body shop will have a spray paint booth. Check with them. They will be better to answer that question better than I can :)

For just dust; I'd use those washable filters sold for people with allergies for heating and air conditioning. They sell them now at most home centers. In a enclosed shop where wood work is done filters will need replacing a lot and can get expensive for any that are really effective .Cheap home heating/ cooling will clog quickly not be as effective; IMO.

......tip for ya.....you have to restrict the air going into the fan. All hvac fans must have a load on them. Don't ask me why but the moter will run HOT and burn out. Hvac service tech. ,,,,,,,duct tape or metal tape should restrict about 50 percent of the opening when used in this manner.

Enjoying your videos and especially this air cleaner, which I would like to do to a HEPA 0.3 micron rating to match my dust extraction. But I must say, you gave me the shivers twice when you placed fingers on wood just behind the table saw blade. PLEASE DON’T DO THAT 😅 it is very unsafe. Am I right or am I right? Again - great videos!

Get a Floor Dryer Fan, Easy Cleaning, Less Work and Less Time = Your Choice cause Time = Money $$$$ LMAO........................... Tips... You need 2 Stage Filters. Use a Cheaper Filter to catch bigger stuff and the expensive ones to catch smaller Particles. Change the Cheaper Ones often to SAVE $$$ on the expensive Filter :D
