The World Gone Mad
I downloaded this movie in low quality SD from the Archive and upscaled to FHD using AI, with 50% facial enhancement for added detail, sharpening set to 5% and a slight increase in contrast.
After restoring the black-and-white version, I colorized it with soft AI settings, adjusting saturation to reduce red flashes and create a smoother viewing experience.
🔹 Note: Colorization is never perfect, and you may notice occasional red flashes or minor color inconsistencies. For an optimal experience, the original black-and-white version is also included.
The full restoration process took just under 16 hours to complete.
A short clip at the beginning highlights the restoration work. Skip to 00:06:17 for the black-and-white version or 01:17:38 for the colorized version.
"The World Gone Mad (1933), directed by Christy Cabanne, is a fast-paced crime drama starring Pat O'Brien, Evelyn Brent, and Neil Hamilton. The story follows district attorney Lionel Houston (O'Brien) and sharp-witted reporter Andy Terrell (Brent) as they team up to investigate the murder of a prominent D.A. who had uncovered a massive stock market fraud. Their pursuit of justice leads them into a dangerous web of corruption, deceit, and powerful adversaries determined to silence them. With tension mounting, the duo must outsmart the criminals before becoming targets themselves. This pre-Code era film offers intrigue and suspense in equal measure."
