@scottulster Hi Scott, I am pressing the d# key for most notes because they require the key to be open for correct tone and volume. When I drop down to the lower register at .43secs I don't press it. For a new up to date finger chart please visit the Miller Wicks.co.uk website where I have enabled a finger chart to be downloaded, this will show which notes require the d# key to be pressed.

Hi Mark, I don't use sheet music, i learn the tune by ear and write it out in abc fashion, its the quickest way to learn 'IN MY OPINION'. You could look up the yorkshire Corps of Drums website as there are plenty of marches on there alternatively google the fluters companion book, there are two in the series and most of the tunes are already on youtube.

I've only ever seen flute bands use the name "World In Union" for this song, does anyone have an idea where it came from?
@AccordionStuАй бұрын
The tune was written by Gustav Holst and it's original title is Jupiter however like most classical tunes, song writers have added their own lyrics and "I vow to thee my country" is the name of a hymn and The World in Union is also lyrics.

Why do you play with the d key open the entire tune?
@tomselleck63413 жыл бұрын
Stu, surely your playing this instrument is a hazard to your hearing, it's well known that Some of these instruments are dangerous, stu stop playing or the whistle will damage you hearing Lol can you hear me, and anyone watching this lower the volume.

Thanks Tom, the whistle as you call it is actually a flute and it’s pitched high so that it can be heard above the din of battle. It’s meant to be loud. 😀
