I've never had the desire to shoot with Profoto until now!

When money not a problem, this is the best speedlite for working pro who can't afford to miss a shot because gear problems and be able to concentrate on take picture instead. Thing like long recycle time, over heat problems, reliability of wireless trigger, ease of use are mostly solved by this A1.

I bought my profoto lights to get away from Speedlites. It's strange to see them steer direct towards Speedlites 🤷♂️

"... with a soft light." I think you have a different definition of "soft light". Simply putting a small "soft box" on a speedlight will not by itself create a soft light. The pictures you took of the model (while nice) were not soft light.
@SsgtHolland7 жыл бұрын
But what does this add to what you can do with a speedlight and wireless trigger (at half the price)? This seems like a niche product for Profoto-addicts (which I am) who do not drive a car.

has uses i guess but any speedlight would do actually.. Light is light. This is more of a gimmick, the way he used it too, you can achieve those with yongnuos too

Hi, I am having issues with profoto A1 having recycle time. I has 5 Seconds recycle time after about 100 full power flashes and dosent maintain 1.2 Sec. Latest FirmWare : B2 version. Testing Method: 1) Profoto A1 on D850 2) clicking at power level 10 3) monitoring seconds on iPhone timer ( not scientific but can detect difference between 1.2 and 5 seconds) 4) after 90 clicks it starts deteriorating to 2 seconds 5) after 100 its between 4 to 5 This is the second unit I am trying it on. (first one also had to use 2.5 stops exposure comp in ttl) Wanted to know if this is expected behavior or should it maintain 1.2 second recycle time for all 350 shots.
@profoto6 жыл бұрын
The A1 is packed with a lot of power in a small volume. There are temperature sensors built-in to secure that the product will not overheat. Since we designed the flash for heavy duty you can use it for longer bursts of full power flashes than any other on-camera flash in the market. Depending on environmental and usage situations even the A1 will however at some point slow down recycling to protect internal circuits.

Thank you, I just wanted to know if this is the expected behavior. I love Profoto lights. Have two B1's and this will be a great addition.

Probably a rental camera (2:34) and sponsored A1 heads ... looks so clean an nice, but with these Profoto prices it is nearly impossible to equip yourself like in these promotional videos. Such a shame.. A Volvo does not cost more than a Mercedes either does it? So come on Profoto crew.. be nice and charge fair prices. You should be able to get loads of sales and profit with even half of the retail price. 1 Swedish bearded man is getting insanely rich here.. Anyone know how much Profoto profits a year? And how much the owner gets paid? Would be nice to know..

This kind of marketing can sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo. There are better German and Japanese speedlights/ flashes/ ???? .
@hofra017 жыл бұрын
I am sorry but only amateurs say '' Light is light'', no it is not. This A1 are way better than any other speedlight in many ways, for me it is 100% reliable and I am that kind of photographer that reliability is more important than some cash. Missing a great shot is a sin and only God knows how many great shots I have missed because of my speedlight didnt recover fast. But with this A1 I dont need to worry about missing a shot and I can shoot while my subjects jump and move around.

The light isnt even out yet and youre talking bs... Light is light and this one is overpriced and full of hype. it's no better than the OEM units at half the price... Youre a joke of a paid poster.
@jgrobshaeusser9967 жыл бұрын
Lol there are plenty of speedlights that Recover fast enough. And yes, light is light.
@99dimensions5 жыл бұрын
Lol your argument is "light is light" is wrong and then you're talking about reliability to prove that. Maybe you're the amateur.

This is obviously just marketing and not done very well. Any camera company that makes a speedlight for their camera's will do high speed sync. My Canon's all do and so does all my Nikon's. At a fraction of the cost. With simple modifiers as this fellow is using it would be easy to recreate what he is doing. I have had zero failures with my Nikon's or Canon's. With a simple battery pack you can get lightning quick recycle times. This looks like a clone of a Quantum flash or a Godox style flash. Nothing really new except how brave they are to charge that kind of money. So many flash units now offer what this does for a 1/3rd to 1/4 of the price. I guess some folks need lighting jewelry. So they can brag about he cost.

Someone tell me what the $1000 light does that the half the price OEMs can't do... This is all fluff and over priced hype.
