The World of David the Gnome

The World of David the Gnome

Күн бұрын

David and his wife Lisa must go off into the mountains because their time on Earth is almost over. They know they will not live past 400 years old. David finishes writing his journal about the gnomes. He and Lisa are visited by an Arctic mouse, who is carrying a message from their old friend Casper who explains that he does not want to go alone. On the way, David and Lisa meet up with all the animals, who have come to say goodbye. Then they travel to the Blue Mountains and have tea with Casper. Past the Blue Mountains is a beautiful valley of flowers. They tell Swift he cannot climb up the mountain with them. The Gnomes ascend the mountain, and say final goodbyes. As David and Lisa pass on, their bodies turn into intertwined apple trees. Casper passes moments later, after muttering to himself for a while. On the way back to the forest, Swift meets another gnome named Christopher, who rides a female fox named Agnes. Swift and Agnes appear to be romantically interested in each other. The spirits of the passed Gnomes wave goodbye.

I watched the series when I was 4-5 years old, and my heart broke into 1 milion pieces when they turned into trees :*( I watched it with my 4 years older cousin and she tried to comfort me while I cried my eyes out, I went into total grief and panic, quiet scarry actually, and my poor cousin was terrified o_o. Now I am 30, and when I watch this I still feel the panic then in my guts. My cousin also still remembers, we talk about it every christmas. Incredible how great an impact a tv-series can have on children. Of course not only in a negative way; today I am a biologist, I worked in a zoo and volunteered on a resort for mistreated pets :)

This is incredible. As a tiny child 35 years ago I woke up earlier than usual and toddled into the living room to see what cartoons might be on. This was on, the only episode I ever saw of it. I've never thought about it since, til now, and I remember crying on my own, then hiding the fact when my mum got up to check on me. She left for her valley not 10 years later. This just took me right back to that morning, and I'm so grateful for your upload bringing this memory back to me. Thank you. Thanks mum. Love you x

I sure am glad I got to see this episode for I had forgotten about it. I’m still tearing up from watching this as I write lol we really do need cartoons like this now a days. The lessons and message this show always had were so beautiful and kind, honorable and to always help others and always do the right thing. I am so glad I grew up in one of the last but best generations before the cellphone of any kind. I just turned 37, still young but getting there. I wish the kids today could have experienced what we all had back then. Running in the fields, playing in dirt, and having our imaginations to wonder and to entertain. I am so grateful I had that. I know how you guys feel. I cried at the ending too!! :'( It was very heartbreaking when I first saw it. It was as sad as my grandparents passing away. I think you all had hugs from your parents like I did when you were young, just like what happened with me. Hope you find happiness like I did. Be sure to have David the gnome a happy memory in your heart. Now a moment of silence for David the gnome. ................................................................................................................................................ Thank you. :'(

Saddest ending of them all! Humans get around 80 to 90s on average on earth but gnomes get 400 or in the rare case of 550 (because they were cared for by several generations of a family of farmers) and return to nature.

Finally watched it - i remember this was cut out of syndication when I watched what I was younger on Nick Jr. - I had since read about the ending. I probably wouldn't have been able to handle the ending as a kid - loved this show.

When I was a kid, I used to watch the series. However my elder sister saw the ending first and she told me that she cried a little about it. When it was my time to watch it, I cried quietly and I thought about the ending for days. Now at 35, watching this again don't seem to be as bad as it was when I was a kid. For some reason my memory had it that Casper was a much serious person and the snowy storm was harder for them to pass. Also, I don't know why, I thought they encountered a troll who tried to eat them on their journey. Then when they were about to turn into trees, I thought they emitted more light and were squeezing their shut eyes hard. Seeing it again, well actually it's a peaceful passing. I guess the human memory has many faults.
