I'm not much into modern series of stamps but starting a collection of Ukraine up to recent issues is certainly appealing. Great Video

Wow, a country that produces modest numbers of new stamps each year, on topics actually related to its culture/history/nature, and takes time to produce beautiful stamps . . . how retro . . . and wonderful!PS. The folks music was a nice touch!

Hello, Ted! I just discovered your channel today and I love it! Thanks for pointing out no "the" before "Ukraine". I spent 3 weeks in Western Ukraine as a high school senior in 1996 (exchange program). But I have not caught up on their stamps yet, only owning a few. I think they are the most colorful stamps of the former Soviet countries. Hopefully I'll catch the collection up soon.

Thank you Phil. Most of the former Soviet satellite countries put out colorful well-designed stamps, but Ukraine is my favorite.

This is the video that made me discover your channel. When Russia invaded Ukraine, like many people around the world I was devastated and felt powerless. Vladimir Poutine's intention (and Russia's for most of it's history) was obviously to eliminate the Ukrainian identity and assimilate it. In my small way, I decided to do my small bit to keep Ukraine culture alive and decided to add Ukraine to the small number of countries I would now collect. Another thing I decided was to buy all my Ukraine stamps from stamp sellers located in Ukraine. That way I help keep their business alive in war times which must be very hard for them, as in war, collectibles must be much harder to sell locally than the essential stuff like food. Thus far, I've spent about a hundred dollars per week in Ukraine stamps since the war started in february. I hope that they are other stamp collectors out there who had the same idea. Your video gave me a LOT of information about stamps from Ukraine and only motivated me more into collecting this independent nation. I will never thank you enough. Keep up the amazing work you do to promote stamp collecting! Glory to Ukraine!

The Sad Story of Ron Lenke? We're all part cat underneath.... I appreciate your choice of Ukraine as a country to explore some of the philatelic history of and respect your deft avoidance of taking sides in the Crimea dispute. Excellent video -- looking forward to seeing what's next.

physics2112 Thank you. Ron Lenke is actually a dealer on HipStamp whose store name is Part Cat Stamps (because his prices are a low percentage of Scott Catalogue values). We are the class clowns on the HipStamp forum, and I created this faux book in his honor. 😄

At the present time (in April 2021) Central post Office in Kyiv, Ukraine, is full of different colorful new and old Ukrainian stamps and envelopes. Prices for each piece, each stamp, are increasing all the time, and finally, most of latest stamps have alphabetic enumeration with sings like "V" ( means the price of 1 usdollar). But most of new stamps are very colorful and interesting.

Very nicely presented video. Music is awesome, well done. Just wanted to add Ukraine had another set of stamps in 1921 called Vienna issue. At that point Ukraine was overrun by bolsheviks and lost it's independence. So these stamps were never released into circulation.

Spot on Vid! Would be interested to know, in view of current circumstance, if V. Putin’s ancestor(s) were ever harmed by a “Cossack soldier” from Ukraine. Perhaps during the 1905 uprising or even earlier…

I’m a huge fan of collecting Ukraine. Something else to look at with Ukrainian 90s stamps is the hyperinflation the country experienced. You’ll see some stamps with a face value of 10,000 or higher. With the current exchange rate of USD to UAH, you can get a year set off eBay shipped to the US for around $50.00. Are you a UPNS member?
@tedtalksstamps3 жыл бұрын
No. I’ve seen the UPNS web site, but I am not a member.

The history of the US and Ukraine does intersect. Ukrainian immigrants came to the US to work in the coal mines in Pennsylvania. A famous American actor came from a family where the family was Ukrainian and the father worked as a coal miner.

Interesting to learn about the stamps of Ukraine despite its short history. I may not have any Ukrainian stamp yet, even though I have lots of CTO stamps from the eastern bloc countries

Ukraine produces very beautiful stamps. And Andy Pastuszak at stamphacks.com/wp/?p=971 makes a great album which he provides free to other collectors.

Thanks for sharing on the resource for album pages. Somehow in my country of Singapore, the default is to use stock books and we refer stock books as stamp albums here. I have only known earlier this year that many collectors in other countries use hinges on album pages, while stamp albums has a different meaning internationally when I started watching youtube and buying from ebay. :)
@tedtalksstamps3 жыл бұрын
@@joyseng Many collectors prefer the use of stock pages over printed albums. There are multiple reasons to do so. One nice thing about this hobby is that there is no right or wrong way to participate. Each person should what is satisfying to them.

I have seen the Soldier and ship stamp block sell for 50 $, quite good for a modern stamp, i don't think it was the first print, but i dont know.
