Tsukuba has a special place in my heart. Showing up for the roadster cup and figuring out it's a full blown event with also Rauh Welt cars and Ferrari driving. Even saw a F50 LM...

It would amazing if in the US we had such a passion for the 86, and availability. I have a 4 door 82 with a 4a engine that I am working on. But nothing like these guys have on display.

Depends if you like peak summer or peak winter! I’d say the matsuri at Tsukuba, on-track action wins over any static event

I had an AE86 in the UK many years ago where the hatchback version was known as a GT86 twincam. Such a great car but the good old British weather wasn't kind to the bodywork, the rear arches used to suffer with rot. Not many around now

Awesome episode yet again! Those Hachi-Rokus look very good especially on race setups. I wonder why Toyota made the Hachi-Go (AE85) back in the days. I think it was even the same production time...maybe the less sporty variant?

Have you done a shop tour of Workshop Takumi / Carbon Junkie yet? I believe he's the one that made the carbon panels for a lot of the AE86s in the video.

Probably the most interesting thing of single-make or single-model events is paying attention to the different interpretations and solutions that each owner has come up with, so it's not really the same despite the shared platform. 37:06 I also wonder how it is to match a sequential gearbox to a carburated engine. I know that people in Argentina have run similar configurations. I imagine the main task for the standalone ECU is shifting control, as fuel injection is out of question.

wierd to see a sandtler logo on car in japan (@ 16:05 & 34:00), since they only sell racing parts in europe (at least as far as i know). yoshimura does not build carbs. those are mikuni tmr carburetors. they are very similar to keihin fcr carbs and probably the best carburetor you can buy
