Even if you have the money and you can afford to buy a $16,000 bike….please don’t. These companies have lost all shame and their greed is endless. Only when people stop paying for this nonsense, it will stop

Yes, the world has gone mad, but idiots, who are willing to spend this sort of money, do exist out there; and I bet you anything, they're probably over weight and slow bike riders. I'll stick with my beautifully restored, 1989 Raleigh 531c thanks very much. DR 🇮🇪

@@davidryan4053You ‘wish’ rich people who spend $20k are dumb and over weighted but you forget how they made their money in the first place lol. Dumb and overweight people are highly unlikely to be drawn into cycling anyway. I doubt the possibilty but you should think outside the box. Not everyone has the same talent, intelligence level, success, financial capability as you. Spending $20k for something they enjoy is a no brainer for some.

I remember in 2008 or so going on a cycling forum and saying $8k for a new Pinarello Dogma was outrageous. I was harshly criticized (granted it was Pinarello owners group) but I essentially said it was unfathomable that a bike costs almost half of a new car (back in 2008). Prices now are proportionally worse

Well done video. I'm past the bids at 73. Started out in cut off jeans and Brooks B17,which I heated in an oven, oiled and beat with a seat post many times in one night and had it broken in. But I wouldn't do that again.

- Pinarello had the Prince and Paris as race/endurance and endurance bikes before, but maybe that they didn’t sell too well. They always focussed their marketing solely around the Dogma. - Why would you want to compare somehow invented compliance figures for the back end with other somehow invented compliance figures from other brands? - Actually, the Talon Ultra is pretty comfortable.

Manufacturers have lost touch with reality. When I can spend less than half the money and get 95% of the performance I will opt out of the price race. Ultegra DI2 on a Vitus Vitesse for example will get the job done for anyone and not affect results or performance

Cool, my next bike will be a gravel bike with probably a 105 group-set, a carbon fiber frame and a total must, mountings for a rear pannier rack. Panniers just work, cantilevering a mass off the seat post isn't that smart if you ask me, just introduced huge bending moments and dynamic oscillations to the frame, bags on the top tube get in the way and you can't get your water bottles and bags on the front effect your steering/handling. Is it just me, I can't see why the whole world is suddenly against panniers, where do you put your food, drink, your woolly-pulley, and uber-heavy bike D-lock when your out for the day?

7.4 KG with SRAM Force on the FALCN is basically the same weight as the SL8 with Force using Fact 10r carbon layup and the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX also using Force. SRAM Force works very well but is not light.

great bikes. For me, as a long-legged person (180cm/90cm legs), most race bikes can only be ridden with lots of spacers. Espeacilly since my neck hernie. However, endurance bikes are usually heavier, sluggish and not aero. Which fast and nimble bike with short reach, long head tube do you recommend?

What version of the Trek Domane AL would you say is best value? The claris is over a €1000 cheaper than the 105, meaning you could almost buy 105 di2 for that price difference.
@davidarthur
@davidarthur Жыл бұрын
Yes looks like you could buy the cheapest one and put a 105 groupset on and be quids in, but unless you change everything yourself there's the mechanic costs. Also looks like the AL5 gets better wheels too

@TheBassallyear100 Жыл бұрын
it's a shame they didn't make an ALR5 version at that price point or something close to it. 105 12-speed mechanical on a bike rated to fit 40c tires with a premium alloy frame would be an interesting alternative to the Checkpoint ALR5@@davidarthur

@@TheBassallyear100 Any clues on how big the difference is in terms of quality between ALR and AL frames? Should I consider the Checkpoint ALR over the domane AL just because of the higher alloy quality?

I would like the aluminum bikes more if they "Hydro-formed" the tubes into D-shaped or 3D printed head tube or bottom-bracket(threaded of course) and other parts like some titanium bike manufactures use.

New version of polish brand's gravel bike Kross Esker has the same geometry and philosophy behind it. You can put suspension fork or rigid fork, and there willbe many groupset options including microshift sword. Plus its aluminum or steel so it will be cheap and looks nice, i dont know about the shipment options.

Given the proliferation of independent small scale fabricators, there's just no reason to spend the money with a mainline brand. They don't off innovation. And carbon isn't worth the money. So may as well get boutique and/or tailored to you. I'd take a Fairlight or RodeoLabs any day over these, if I'm going to spend that money.
