Just to let you guys know the Mcdonald’s coffee lawsuit is actually kinda misunderstood. The woman who sued initially didn’t even want to sue she just wanted Mcdonald’s to change the temperature they keep their coffee at and to cover her medical bills since the 3rd degree burns she got required expensive treatment. Mcdonald’s refused to give her any money the first time so she asked again and they gave her only an $800 offer. The woman clearly wasn’t satisfied with that bc her medical bills were way more than $800(at the time Mcdonald’s was making over a million dollars a day on coffee alone so they definitely could’ve covered her bills).

Yep! And also the court did find that McDonalds HAD instructed employees to overheat the coffee to unsafe temperatures when brewing it. This was so they wouldn’t have to brew as much coffee and could leave old pots sitting out for longer while avoiding customers complaining about cold coffee. So McDonalds was really just being cheap AF, not just with medical bills but also with their coffee making!!!!!

I worked at subway for 5 years. We get frozen sticks of bread. We thaw them, then we have to proof them (activates the yeast in the dough so it rises), and then we bake it. Since humans thaw, proof, and bake the bread it can and usually does come out different. So if it’s a little less than 12 that’s okay. But someone also could have under proofed and under baked it, resulting in a very short bread. But not really subways fault, it’s human error.

There's a few things you can do so your makeup doesn't look cakey. Wear a good base/face primer. Full coverage foundations usually cake up so pick one that is medium to light coverage or a BB cream and setting spray helps a lot. Oh and instead of a brush use some type of cosmetic sponge

Ok, so the podcast is great! Lucas, the thing you mentioned is called attorneys fees and in general, people do pay the other teams fees if they sue and then lose.

The part that wins the lawsuit is entitled to have their fees paid by the part that lost. Also, I’m not sure if in the US it is a thing, but here in Puerto Rico (where I study law) if the part that looses is found to have acted recklessly or purposely elongated the trial without any substantial or legitimate reason, they also have to pay another fee on top of the attorney/legal fees.

They actually do measure the shots for margaritas (I’ve watched and have seen people in bars measure the shots in a medicine cup thing) Also when I worked in the club in my country (New Zealand, I worked at a strip club called White House) a friend of mine and me got drinks paid by a client and brought us our shots, we then smelled it and they were off. We then decided not to drink it and told our boss, she said to toss it out but he denied anything happened, even though they both smelled and tasted different. We could tell that something was wrong! Still Alive and tossed out the drinks!

They keep lawyers in business, and scare the insurance companies, who dictate to everyone what to do. And, about the over-iced beverage, order ``lightly iced,'' and then hold them to it. BTW, one time recently leaving Arby's, I spilled my drink. In my car. My fault, but the extra-large cups are really tippy? They're small at the bottom to fit in your cup holder, but that base has to support so many ounces above it, it basically will never stay upright while driving. They gave me a free new one, tho. About the packaging, the excess packaging sells the product. (But there should be a ban on excess packaging becos . . .the environment.) Isn't the point of multiple plates so that you don't have to wash your plate after every meal and waste so much water? Get service for 8 and run your dishwasher once a week. Also, corporations use these types of lawsuits to convince people into supporting torte reform, even though those are basic civil rights that are useful for every consumer. Very few people would lie or go through the legal process to sue a large corporation and we should support their efforts to guard us all against large businesses involved in unhealthy or unfair practices. To correct Lucas's example, you couldn't sue a pizza place if they made a mistake, got wood in your pie, and attempted to correct the mistake. But, you could, and should, sue if you knew that they were purposely trying to harm people with wood as a corporate plan, and they made no attempt to correct their actions, because you are ensuring the rights of your fellow citizens which is one of the basics of civil law. There are already laws in place to protect businesses from frivolous lawsuits, including having to pay the other side's legal fees if the suit is thrown out of court. Don't believe the hype, and power to the people!
