Always still hire a locator to avoid liability. Also I run a GPR and it will not find lines running parallel to the machine. Still seems like it might be a good product, but just keep that in mind.

I'm going to say that most states have codes / laws requiring locating before the job starts. ie: Here in Indiana, it's a state code (law) that we call 811 for utility locating before any shovel hits the jobsite.

Did i hear him say any utility in any soil? 20 years of working with GPR. I would be weary of this statement when its know Clay is really not good for GPR. and good luck with Lone fibre. And im not sure it has and vertical scanning, so any pipes or cables running parallel to the bucket. The time taken to scan and dig scan and dig. It would be much faster and cheaper to get a full GPR survey done before work starts. dont event want to know the cost to fit all your machines to a large project. Also will people pay there employees more when your upskilling them, and giving them the resposibility to not hit anythng. hmmm.

The company I work for bought one, not really impressed… 6 scans over 4 known utilities and 6 different results. From inaccurate depth readings to number of known utilities. Rocks, roots and backfilled metal objects will throw it off as well. Not to mention I will not find parallel to bucket utilities… they have some issues to work out, save your money for now.
