I agree Jeff Pettegrew, for twenty-four years, I wanted to know what happened to that Playmate Mobile; now I know, that, Lemay Family Historic Museum owns it. Which means they won't restore the car. That's a shame for a famous custom car. People need to see it at car shows; not gathering rust. Phil

For nostalgia reasons, Don Garlits would restore dragsters and funny cars with old mag wheels. We lost him March 16, 2021. I advertised for him since 2011 to March 2021. I still have my blogs on how Swap Rat 1; and Swap Rat 1B were created. Phil

I'm serious, I want this car back at the Sacramento Autorama as is it was in 1977. This is wrong. This the way, I seen it, in 1999.However, that man, is a murder, so it can't be restored by him. I called the Lemay Foundation. I have Hot Rod Show World Playboy Playmate Coach, but without Playboy and Playmate on it.I call it Kitten Princess, restored the 1977 colors, and let people see it, as it was then. Cragars, original undersized radised fender skirts, a bloer and Ederle scoop. In the gold multicors with black. This version won, no awards.

I know about the custom Ed Newton nose in this 1955 Chevy Nomad; with Oldsmobile Vista top. This is the Playmate Mobile. The best colors were black with rainbow colors in the 1970's. I last seen this car; at The Sacramento Auto Rama in 1999. The body was in pearl peach and pearl blue, with the lighter white colors. The new purple replaced the pearl blue. They went with wider triangular slotted mags. They put the side draft carburetor chrome air cleaner in 1999. The car originally had widened Corvette early turbine wheels; like from the sixties Corvettes. Phil

Great video, and Tucker was rear engine RWD! The Rumble seat at hour 1, just before the Tucker question, it was to make the car a sporty 2 seat car, with the ability to bring along someone else, but rarely! More for the Southern California climate, with rare rain. Remember that it was just 30 years after the days of horse and buggy and wagons. Those born in 1900 where used to riding outside! Wonderful car collection! And the car in the back of the garbage truck is a one of a kind thing! Bantam is the company that designed the Jeep, and it had to meet specs of less than 1,,300 pounds. However they typed in 1,800 pounds in the specs. Because Bantam had never produced more than about 50,000 cars in a single year, they moved production to Ford and other suppliers. Back in the 30's high octane fuel, even that used in airplanes was only about 65 octane. After 1940, during the war, they discovered ho to produce 130 octane for the Doolittle Raid. Compression ratio on a normal car was only about 6:1, while the 50's they went up to 7:1 and late 50's 7.5:1. By 1955, they had 80 - 87 octane at the gas stations, and by the 60's it was 87 minimum and 92 was high test. MASH. Mobile Army Surgical Hospital

First I would like to say that the LeMay car collection is the biggest and the best in the world, there is no doubt about that. Also it is great that folks like Blacklogic do these videos for the world to see. Also it is great that folks like the elderly gentleman give up there time to give these tours but and here is the big but. There is so much misinformation here, actually it is endless from the start to the end. There is so much wrong wrong wrong information here that I could write a small book listing all the that is incorrect. Some of the honest mistakes are already listed here but there are so many more. I would almost recommend that the sound be turned off and just the video be seen for all those amazing vintage automobiles. I am not trying to offend anyone here by no means. I just have a serious problem with misinformation being passed on as fact and then other folks pass on that misinformation as well. Again no offense to anyone and those cars are a wonder to see. Cheers.

Not trying to be cynical but here I go...... These people are presumably wealthy beyond belief and they have all these "docents" working for them for the privilege of it. Honestly sickening. I'm nowhere near wealthy and I would never expect/ask/allow someone's labor or time to go unrewarded. And I don't want to hear a bunch of crap about all rewards aren't monetary or they consider the time with the cars it's own rewards, because last I checked the electric company and the grocery store weren't accepting any of those things as payment. People who partake in this system are as clueless as "interns" . We might as well dial it back a couple hundred yrs and start free apprenticeship programs again. Like I said, I'm sure many will disagree but the idea of a average person working for the ultra wealthy for the privilege of it is sickening.

Oh my God that music ! Playing the same song over and over again, they need to mix it up some with 1930's 40's 50's style songs that blue Danube waltze crap will drive me nuts trying to look at each car .if they liven up the atmosphere musically and put up a better sign up at the end of the driveway that catches the eye they may draw more people in . I don't know how many times I drove past this place coming and going to work and did not know it was a car museum until I saw this video.
