The few features I would add to all salt spreader brands 3rd brake light, license plate relocation and light and back-up cam with universal to vehicle specific plug.

@@JarradBruessel32 In New Hampshire you're supposed to have your Green Snowpro Certfication. It's environmental. We have over 50 waterways that are chloride contaminated because of over application. Chloride literally sucks the moisture out of fish's bodies and kills them. Same with all vegetation and wildlife including you. You're also required to report how much you applied in tons at the end of the season to the state again to protect the environment. Unlike EVs, this stuff actually helps the environment which is why we do the presentation made by the state to certify all of our driver's and educate them about it.

@@JarradBruessel32 more than twice as much as a comparable boss spreader. 3 times a saltdogg. It is nice though but it's big selling point is the data that it tracks. @@jareds6611 as a contractor the price might be an issue as an initial selling point, but the money the equipment will save in the long run, for the contractor/business that is highly data/cost oriented, the investment would pay-out or return the cost of investment relatively quickly. Dont get me wrong it's cool but certainly not a good option for most of us. There are so many more things to go wrong on this I don't even think you'd be able to count. Between the software and all of the parts if one of them fails, the thing won't even run and you'll spend hours trouble shooting. I see where they're coming from with the vibrator being in the front, but if that thing has issues, the entire salter/sprayer is going to have to come out of the truck for most if not all pickups if you want to repair it. We just simply don't have time for that. By the time it's fixed we'll already be up to our heads in service calls. I'm sure there's a market for it but I think most guys would be better off going with a Camion T-Series which has most of the bells and whistles but they're much simpler or a Polycaster or VBX which are basically bare bones units aside from the fact that the boss has the GPS funcionality. Both have vibrators that are extremely easy to service WHEN they have issues.
@figurethis2
@figurethis2 8 ай бұрын
I get far less breakdowns with the hilltips than I did with other brands and when they do any diagnostics is normally straight forward the same as it is on any other make. In terms of getting to the vibrator the smaller gritters can be simply rolled onto their side in the truck bed whilst the larger ones come with their own flip down stands so can be pulled straight out the back. If you are getting issues with vibrators that often that access is that important to you I would be having a look at other makes. Currently have 4 Hilltips with the oldest being over 3 years, not had one issue with the vibrator yet.

@davidpattison5860
@davidpattison5860 8 ай бұрын
Hi @joshuaplacka The technology helps with putting down the optimum amount of product rather than a carpet of product , I don’t know what they calibrate their machine to do , back then it was calibrated from10 grams to 40 grams per square metre depending on how much frost there was , one key thing is you have to plow as much snow as possible to get to blacktop before applying product , the equipment can be used with sand or pea gravel or fertiliser whatever you want to use it for salt is also an option and is more efficient and probably cheaper to use than the others and stops way more accidents which destroys vehicles quicker than rust does , plus as they said stop many claims from people which is a big problem for municipalities and small companies alike , the tech is good my point was it’s not new , crop sprayers also use it for decades , Have a good and happy new year Regards Davy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇹🇭

Overpriced garbage tbh. I'm just waiting for him to talk about AI, and then a monthly subscription. This is useless. Been plowing for decades and this won't help anything. We use fleet apps for tracking and management and THAT was game changing. This is NOT. The idea that someone sitting at home remote controlling the spreader is absolutely DUMB. Train the operator on how to operate the machine. He will know when to increase the spread as the conditions change. This is just "vaporware".

Unfortunately something being cool doesn't justify unnecessary costs. "Htrack" for large businesses that have money to blow might be worth it just for the added benefit of all-in-one, but I would say based on my experience, this wouldn't be worth it on anything less than 50 heads, maybe even 100 depending on what your existing app was. The issue isn't even that it would be 2 seperate features, the issue is that the feature they're providing is not a feature that needs to be used. Remote controlling the spread density isn't something that should be remoted. That being said, I looked at the propaganda material from Hilltip, and the software is very much lacking compared to MOST fleet tracking apps, so it's actually NOT an all-in-one solution. Especially for the costs. @@FrankMaenpaa
