Hi! My wife and I are currently in koh lanta on our honeymoon. We’re backpacking and although I’ve travelled the gulf side pretty extensively, we’ve never been to the Andaman Islands. I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of months in preparation and have to say, compared to so many of the other self-indulgent KZbinrs, yours is the perfect channel for essential information presented by someone who is so clearly positive about everything travelling should be. We’ve just booked 3 nights at Kalume eco resort on koh Kradan, and after watching your video, we’re both so excited! We need to travel quite quickly back up to khao sok after kradan. Do you (or anyone who watches this channel) know if the best bet is to just get to Trang and take a direct bus to khao sok? We’ve already been to phi phi and krabi so no need to stop via them on the way back up. After Khao sok, it’s over to the gulf to koh phangnan where I’ve been many times before. It’s so good to be back out there again. SE Asia is my happy place 😊 Thank you so much for your channel. It inspired us to have a little adventure for this special trip rather than book a 2 week all inclusive and it’s the best decision we could have made 🇹🇭☀️☀️🐒🐒✈️🏝️🍹
@TravelRoads Жыл бұрын
Hi @Hitchcock! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! 🥰It’s so nice to hear that my videos have helped plan your trip. I’m so excited for you and your wife. A honeymoon in Thailand must be such a fantastic experience! ❤ I think your best bet to get from Koh Krandan to Khao Sok is by bus. Koh Kradan (speedboat)-> Trang (bus)-> Surat Thani (bus)-> Khao Sok. Please ask the management at Kalume to help you organize your transfer and bus tickets from Trang all the way to Khao Sok. I’m sure they can help. Or ask your current hotel on Koh Lanta to help you with information on bus departures. You can also check www.bundhayaspeedboat.com. You might be able to get a speedboat from Koh Kradan to Phuket (about 4h travel time), then get on a but from Phuket to Khao Sok. But not sure if you can coordinate this in one day. Might be tricky to transfer from Phuket to Kao Sok. I have not done a transfer from Koh Kradan to Kao Sok, but in Thailand you can get anytime/anywhere by bus. Please let me know how did your transfer go once you make your way to Khao Sok. It would be nice to confirm the travel options for everyone :) Enjoy your honeymoon in paradise!! 🌴🌊🥥🐒🐟🐠☀❤

Koh Kradan….I’m lost for words. This is by far the best place I’ve ever been to. It is total perfection 😍 I’ve spent the morning snorkelling and it’s indescribable. What a place 😲 (We’ve taken the easy option to khao sok. Boat to Trang and then a taxi straight to khao sok. £50pp which is a lot of money but we struggled to get much info about public transport from people on the island, and besides it is our honeymoon!) They said it will take about 5 hrs in total whereas the public bus would be more like 9 hrs and not without complications. Out of curiosity for future trips. How does koh kood and the islands near Trat compare to koh kradan?
@TravelRoads Жыл бұрын
Hi @@Premofandabbadozy, So happy to hear that your honeymoon is magical! Yey! ❤ Thanks for the information on your transfer to Khao Sok. 👍 Koh Kood (Koh Kut) is my favorite Thai island. I’ve been hesitant to do a video about it and spoil Thailand’s best-kept secret :) Koh Kood is very different than Koh Kradan. I think Koh Kradan is perfect for a honeymoon trip. The water is so amazing, and it feels your soul with joy. Koh Kood is a bigger, hillier island. It’s mostly Muslim and laid-back. Not many tourists go there and there are not many hotels on the island. There are no big supermarkets and no nightclubs/bars or night entertainment. Most of the beaches on this island have amazing, crystal-clear water (almost the shade of Koh Kradan). You need a scooter to get around. Some of the roads are not paved and are a bit bumpy. It’s more of an “adventure island” with amazing beaches, while Koh Kradan is a relaxing island with fantastic azure waters and snorkeling right off the beach. Koh Chang and Koh Mak are nice islands as well. Koh Chang has nightclubs and bars. The island has plenty of hotel options for any budget. Koh Mak is another laid-back Muslim community (no supermarkets, no ATM, no nightlife). There are fewer hotels on the island. The island here is flat (while Chang and Kood are hilly). I have a video on my channel about Koh Mak if you’re interested to see the island. I also have a documentary film about Thailand (North and South) that includes all the major islands. The movie is on Vimeo on demand: twoducklingproductions.vhx.tv/ So happy you are having a fantastic time in Thailand! Enjoy your honeymoon! ❤❤❤ -Eli

It's a beautiful spot especially in front of Reef Resort. Nice for young kids too, no road/traffic or indeed anything other than sand, sea and the outdoors. You definately need to change mental gears here though. It get's dark early and everything (meaning one bar and the one small supply room/shop) closes not much later than that!. There were no TV's when I was there 5 years ago (can't recall even having wifi) so i remember actually waiting for sunrise so i could get up and do something again!. I'm never an early rises - expect for those times spent on Kradan. Agree, the Pizza at Kalume (north end of the beach) was absolutely delicious and very authentic. The best pizza i've tasted in 10 years going to Thailand. One price you pay is maybe a slight lack in variety with regards to food - it was always delicious standard fair such as pad thai, fried rice dishes (we bought fresh quid and blue crab from the passing fishing boat and had the reef resort cook it up) but of course you don't have your fresh thai market food or street noodles etc here. Great place just to escape the world for a while and feel close to nature and simplicity again.

I see that at the end you mentionef you travelled during Covid. I was wondering how did you manage to take videos/ photos with an empty beach. They have some shared longtail boats leaving from Koh Lanta to Koh Kradan. You need to ask around in the Old Town for a price/date. I think a private longtail might be around 4,000thb. If you want to get to Koh Kradan from Koh Lanta, you can also take the bus to Trang, then transfer to Koh Kradan.

I'm going in November, any tips how I can get out to the reef as will be alone bit cautious to swim out that far alone or kayak, staying on Mali resort. Thanks 🙂
@TravelRoads Жыл бұрын
Hi Claire, Mali Resort is the most upscale place on the island. They should be able to help you get to the reef. Maybe someone can give you a kayak ride and then come pick you up? The reef is not too far out to go there by yourself. There will be organized snorkeling tours with people in the water. You will not be completely alone on the reef. I'm sure that other people staying in your resort won't mind if you tag along with them in the water. It's good to have a snorkeling buddy if you are by yourself. Worst case scenario, walk to Reef Resort and offer to pay Genta (the owner) to send you one of her staff to snorkel with you on the reef. Genta is super kind and I am sure she can help you organize something ☺ You can also borrow a life-saving vest and float around on the reef instead of swimming. Have a fun trip!!

Thanks for your honest message. I titled this video after a Thai person contacted me to tell me that Koh Kradan is ranked #1 beach in the world by www.worldbeachguide.com. This person was very excited (you can read his comment in the comment section) and suggested that I rename my video. So, I did to celebrate Koh Kradan’s beauty. This is why the video description starts with “In 2023 Koh Kradan is ranked the #1 beach in the world! Top 100 Beaches on Earth 2023: www.worldbeachguide.com/top-100-beaches-earth.htm” - I wanted to acknowledge why I chose this title and that it was not my own proclamation.
