Yeah, people who have never been there always try to write it off as an overhyped tourist trap, but as someone who has lived in NYC for almost 40 years, I can tell you, it's one of the few "tourist traps" in this stinkin city that actually lives up to the hype. One of the few world famous places that real lifelong New Yorkers still actually go to. You'll see a ton of tourists from around the globe in Katz's on any given day, but you'll also see a TON of people who've lived in the city their whole lives sitting right next to them washing down a reuben with a Cel-Ray.

Maybe i have to give Katz a try again. BUT, about 9 years ago, I ordered the Pastrami sandwich. Which was.... okay... maybe I ordered it wrong? Cause, the sandwich was kinda dry, and I didn't get enough meat. I don't know if the "cutter" had something against me at the time? But, I just didn't get enough "sandwich", with an okay taste at top of that. Coming from Canada, so paying close to 40buks Cad for a deli sandwich is a bit much.

Some of you online like to complain "35 bucks for a sandwich?! Who in their right mind pays THAT much for daylight robbery?!" Us. It used to be 25 bucks when I ate it and I'm sure it was cheaper going further back. But it's at least a 50 dollar sandwich if I'm being honest, considering the quality AND quantity of fucking good pastrami you're getting. It's a fucking good sandwich. It's 35 bucks because people will pay 35 bucks and it WILL climb because people want it. I have not had pastrami like Katz's. When I go to New York, I WILL eat at Katz's. I WILL GO TO NEW YORK JUST TO EAT AT KATZ'S ONE MORE TIME. Katz's Pastrami on Rye is the ONLY way you will get me to set foot in that city.
