Guys, Angelo's is the real deal in America, its perhaps one of the top 20 best restaurants in the US... You may think why? Obviously y’all haven’t read who he dedicated his cookbook too 😅 yes it was very impactful on Mother’s Day especially. When you’re raising your children to be good people but also expressive it’s very inspiring how far it can get them . Some people like Gordon Ramsay or The Pinoneer woman but not me , Josh is definitely my favorite . Over the last 6 years learning how to cook was super important to me . I’m raising a family and the right thing to do is make sure everybody is healthy including myself and my significant other . His cooking style is easy to follow and when you watch enough of his videos and then actually ready the recipes you know he wrote this book himself . Recipes from cinnamon toast to different kinds of nut butter . And all the jokes and bleeped out cuss words inbetween . And as for whatever somebody said about a parasocial relationship…. Josh was one of the first people to like my comment asshat 😂😅🤫 I’ve followed his recipes before and have never had a bad result . I don’t know Josh from Adam . But I definitely trust his technique and expertise .

Angelo's have been getting a lot of raves for one reason: _they make their own bread for the sandwich_ . This is unlike many other cheesesteak places in Philadelphia, which uses the Amoroso Bakery roll. (In fact, Angelo's have been getting a lot of traffic not only for their outstanding cheesesteak sandwich, but also (arguably) the best pizza in Philadelphia, a pizza that can compare with the best in New York City.)

Just had to pause as a longtime Tampa Bay resident to say thank you for going to La Segunda. At first, I was worried you'd just go to The Columbia and I was sad, their Cuban food is really good there but it's not the spot for a to-go sandwich like that. La Segunda is the GOAT and the reason it was least voted is because it's more of a local secret than a flashy Michelin-recognized place in Miami. There are actually a bunch of other great Cuban sandwiches in Tampa, the TRUE home of the Cuban, but Segunda is the measure for sure.

Let’s judge a cheesesteak with mayo, something majority of people would never put on a cheesesteak. Why not judge a Ruben with bbq sauce? While I don’t disagree with Angelo’s winning, Josh should have consulted as to what most people actually would order. Absolutely should have ordered with cooper sharp, w/ or w/o onions, that’s it.

I am a HM major/huge food lover from the Philly area, who worked in a restaurant this past summer for the first time. His Philly assessment is absolutely spot on. John’s is an exceptional cheesesteak, it was the first I had on my list and I had always wanted to go. I hadn’t had dalessandros in forever and it was decent but they didn’t know what I meant when I said whiz wit, which was a bit of a red flag, but the cheesesteak was ok. I went to Angelo’s with my uncle at the end of the summer and waited 1.5 hours+ on a Tuesday at 3 o’clock for our food. Oh my god was it worth it. Not only was it hands down the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had and possibly the best sandwich, but the pizza was easily the best I’ve had in the Philly area, rivals and honestly trumps John’s of Bleeker in New York. If you are visiting Philly, devote a large portion of one of your days to go to Angelo’s. It is right by the Italian market where you can explore and walk around/snack while you wait (the wait is primarily after you order). It is worth every minute

I've been making beach club mockups from Jimmy John's. I use bagels, with vegetable cream cheese, (or mayo, depending on you preference) sundried tomato turkey, provolone, cucumbers, tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, sprouts, which are a must imo, and avocado. Bacon if you'd like, but be careful with peppers and pickles if you choose to have them on the side. Unless you find the right pairing it overpowers the sandwich.

I’m from Chicago, and while I will say Al’s was much better back in the day (like prior to the pandemic), there are other spots in the city that were even better than the ones you mentioned. The best italian beef of all time was at a place called Fast Track on West Lake street. It closed during the pandemic unfortunately, but the building is still there and every true Chicagoan is heartbroken that it’s gone. There’s also D’amato’s Bakery, which is not as well known for the italian beef (I go there for their incredible italian cookies) but they have the best bread and the best quality ingredients in the city. Very happy to see you paying a visit to the same Al’s Beef in the parking lot of my old high school on Taylor, across the street from the iconic Mario’s Italian Ice. Urban legend has it that the Italian Beef started out as wedding food during the Great Depression. When you soak the bread in the au jus, it satisfies like meat. Wet is thus the proper way to eat this sandwich. The best way to enjoy this sandwich is to order it with a side salad instead of fries. Eat the sandwich (wet with peppers of your choice) directly over the salad. Whatever falls into the salad will make it taste better. Portillos got sold to a corporation that reduced portion sizes. Don't go there for Italian beef. It's normal for sweet peppers to be mushy. They are cooked in the same au jus as the beef.

The fact that Portillo’s is on the list is an affront to Chicago. They used to be awesome but since private equity took over their quality went way down, it’s still good o it’s your only option but shouldn’t make a top ten. Even like fifteen years ago you could walk in, wait in a normal line, and get your giant sandwich, sit, and enjoy. Can I make a request? Best Taylor Ham sandwich! It is god tier breakfast food, served with well done fried egg and melted American cheese, optional salt pepper ketchup, served on a kaiser roll (standard central-south jersey) or a bagel (north jersey). It's a thick, heavily spiced, freshly deli sliced pork product....like a top shelf reserve spam, lol. The kicker is you really can only get it in new jersey, a small part of Pennsylvania, Connecticut and a small area of NYC/Bronx. In case you didn't know, NJ is home to some of the best bread (bagels, pizza dough, hoagie rolls) in the country. The exclusivity of the Taylor ham makes it that much more special.

I've never understood breaded shrimp on a sandwich. I tried a po boy when I was in NOLA, but I wasn't at all impressed. I'm gobsmacked that the NOLA Muffaletta wasn't on the list! Now THAT'S a sandwich!! The best one I've ever had!

The thing is, the recipe and origin of the Cubano is heavily debated where are you have Miami style or Tampa style. Same thing with the Poboys, Reubens, all these sandwiches. You can’t just go to one city and say they have the best of one particular sandwich without all those variations. Best po’boy & Cubano I ever had were both in NC. Best “Chicago style” pizza I had was in NYC.

A traditional "Cubano" which originates in Tampa, has a cured meat on it, usually Salami. The Miami version omits the cured meat. It's unfortunate that your sandwich from Columbia wasn't hot. I've eaten there a number of times, & it's always been hot & amazing. The cured meat does make a huge difference

I second this. A Columbia Cuban sandwich eaten hot and fresh is truly a thing of culinary beauty, and is deserving of the accolades and acclaim the restaurant garners as a true Florida institution since 1905.

@@DarkMattr To be fair, the Columbia is a Spanish restaurant. I've never had their cuban but I'm sure its good. There are so many traditional cuban spots in Tampa that aren't as hyped.

Best sandwich I ever had was a Big Mac style sandwich made with onion poppy seed ciabatta rolls, the top layer was an Italian cold cuts situation and the bottom layer was a southern fried chicken sandwich. Everyone should have it

I lived 5 min from Angelo’s. Pro tip for y’all wanting to visit - Angelo’s unplugs their phone 30 min into opening so put in your order in person and then walk a block to chapterhouse cafe to grab a drink while you wait (and you will definitely wait at the minimum 1 hour). Order a dirty chai or a London fog latte. Or if you aren’t a caffeine person, go 2 blocks the opposite direction and get yourself a cookie from the Italian bakery isgros. Man I miss living in that area the food scene is amazing. I also lived in nyc and yeah, Katz deli makes me irate from the jump I will never understand the hype like even for movie lovers it’s not worth the stress. When I had friends that visited and wanted to go there I’d tell them I’ll meet up with them after lol
