@@Perspective_Taken some kids really love the Krampus, Others are extremely scared of them and for good reason. Every year there's headlines of men at Krampus Festivals attacking people (mostly young women). They are in my experience also often extremely drunk or hungover and chase around kids trying to go to school. Our cool tradition has unfortunately turned into another way for men to abuse their power

It‘s not that bad. As he said, it‘s a very affective way to teach children to behave. As grown-ups, we remember that we were scared of them but as you grow older, you find out that it wasn‘t that traumatising after all.

even though the in german speaking countries famous sanktt nikolaus, alongside with russian father frost, is the inspiration for the amreican santa, it's a whole different person and they are not interchangeable. nikolaus visits with the krampus on the 6th of december, and der weihnachtsmann (=santa) will have his time in the evening of the 24th of december. please stop confusing these two characters.
