@@worm3165 I have their prototype commando droid from before Lego released theirs. It's completely grey and kinda weird. The other things either went missing or are still being sold by them, like the flamethrower and the vibroblade

Thanks Beyond The Brick for giving us this insight into CAC, I use their products a hell of a lot but being from the UK it’s likely I’ll never step foot in the store/warehouse so to see what goes into the process is amazing. Only criticism I could give CAC is that the website really needs modernising, like it definitely works but could be easier to navigate

I mean, recently they added brand new helmet molds, but they don't have a section for them on the website at the moment. So, ya. It needs some work. I'd love for them to have a section on the website for their discontinued products.

I found an old fourm with old CaC figs, I wish they did updated versions of those. Their P1's today don't hit as good as the old days and theres no classic clones (indent helmets where the black head pokes through)

I like the detachable Clone Commando blaster attachments, but usually CAC's blasters are the weakest point of the catalog to me. Too caricatured compared to equivalent offerings from AreaLight and Brickarms.

Looks like they outsource their injection molding and printing otherwise they’d be advertising “Made in America” all over the place. Somewhat pricey for something made outside the country.

Basically they outsource. They buy the bodies, send them off to another manufacturer, get them printed, send them back, and are ready to be sold

I wonder about two things: how does it work IP-wise when it comes to who's holding rights to star wars? I assume they got the rights to manufacture the stuff under the license. And second one - how does it work in context of what's safe for children?

I don't think anything is made under license, whether it's CAC or another custom seller. That's why some things have names to avoid using a copyrighted name. It's more obvious with the Halo items they make (orbital armor, etc). AFAIK the figures use genuine Lego parts, minus the custom accessories, so they're not making "fakes" or anything like that. That's my impression of it at least.

@Gourmand Lego has the IP-right to the minifigs. Star Wars and most character-names are IP's also. How does that work? I really wonder. I'm from Europe and here Lego is sueing everrything that looks remotely like a minifig.
