Random lady: 1080p HD footage The Pentagon: 144p 5fps
@danieldougan269Ай бұрын
This was upscaled. No one actually filmed this in HD, including the TV news crews. It was 480p at best...digital video but only DVD quality. Jules Naudet was using a professional Mini DV camera that shot in 480p when he filmed American 11 hitting the North Tower. It was dumb luck for him because he just happened to be filming the Fire Department for a documentary and heard the plane fly over. Even the fixed-mounted news cameras around New York that pointed at the WTC weren't rolling when American 11 hit. Of course, since many cameras were already rolling because of the North Tower, there is a lot of footage from many angles of United 175 hitting the South Tower. HD video and TVs did exist, but the vast majority of TVs then could only display 480i so the HD cameras were very few, far between, and for high-end productions only like _The Tonight Show with Jay Leno_ and the Super Bowl. Even the big network news shows like _Today_ weren't using HD yet. As far as the Pentagon goes, no one was thinking to film it when American 77 hit it. There was one shitty security camera pointing in that direction. Plenty of good cameras filmed the aftermath though.

@danieldougan269Ай бұрын
@@Rex33-g5m Yes, of course someone actually filmed it, but not in HD. Standard definition, DVD quality. Not Blu-ray quality. Just because you can set the resolution in KZbin to 1080p doesn't mean the original video was shot in 1080p or even 1080i. Almost no one, not even the major national news broadcasters, had HD cameras back then. There were a handful of HD broadcasts, but no one shot news that way in 2001. In many cases, the broadcast news cameras were still using Betacam tapes. And this was filmed by an amateur from an apartment. The footage looks sharp for the time, but it was not filmed in HD.

Never has something had such an impact on me psychologically. And even now at 34 I look at it again with just as much terror. It seems so unreal. all the plane passengers too, who must have been terrified at the idea of realizing that they were going to crash into the towers. I remember this day in England. I had a friend over for a sleepover and my mum rushed in to tell us what happened. The second tower had already been hit by then. We watched for a few minutes, but it freaked us both out once people started jumping, and we left the house. Went into town to get some chips for lunch from the fish n chippy. The town was literally deserted. Everyone was home watching the news. At the chippy, nobody was there but the guy at the counter, and he also had the news on the tv. He barely took his eyes off it. We sat on the deserted beach with our chips and barely talked. We were both thinking about all those people. I remember having to call my mom from my aunt’s landline that day; and I wasn’t even in NY. Not everyone had cell phones in the early 2000’s and coverage was limited. She even says “everyone’s on cell phones”. And, listening to her frantically say “Oh my God! Who is this!” when ‘Kelly’ called (right after the second plane hit), she notes several times that she doesn’t know what to do, and how she’s trying to wait for a call and something about can’t get a hold of her husband. Not to mention the chaos. That, coupled with having a baby, makes absolute perfect sense as to why she stayed put.

I remember sayin: woooow that's probably a big deal right there. So waves, probably knowing there really is nothig else to do and there isn't going to be any help coming to them. It's almost like the person is waving directly at this camera, and us the viewer. The fact the women who is recording this is weeping and on the phone in real time : This is probably the most human and disturbing 9/11 footage I have seen.

I clearly remember that day. It was my mom's birthday on September 11, and we were celebrating when they started broadcasting it live on TV. We were shocked, unable to believe that it was really happening. The celebration was over at that point. And now we feel it every day entire cities are being destroyed daily. Even as I write this, I can hear explosions. Who knows, maybe this will be my last comment. Yes, I'm from Ukraine, and we've been living through this for almost three years now.

I just turned 17 on 9/11/2001. I still vividly remembered when I woke up at around 0600 PDT, getting ready to go to school (high school biology class started at 0700 PDT), I heard a lot of commotion downstairs with the TV turned on and my parents already downstairs talking about the plane crash. When I arrived at school, all the TVs inside were playing the 911 terrorist attacks the entire day. This was amongst the 3 biggest historical events that I vividly remembered in my life. The Russian invasion of Ukraine 2.5 years ago came second, and I myself getting stuck for about 4-5 days in the middle of Manhattan as part of my NYC trip to a music camp (I was supposed to fly home the next day) during a major electricity blackout during the end of 2003 came third.

I was scared on long island. No idea how this woman must have felt. I got home from class that was canceled and came home where my father was watching the live news. I asked him "Do you think they could fall?" He said no way, the engineering was brilliant. I think it was like 10 mins after I said thag we saw the cloud of dust. We were both so sick to our stomachs.

Imagine for a second that you to go to sleep tonight and tomorrow you wake up in New York in 2001. With your 2024 smartphone, videos like this, the naudet's documentary and plenty of information, newspapers and everything about this tragedy. I was imagining this exact scenario. In my version, assuming i woke up early enough, say 3 or 4 am, I would hunt down an air traffic control supervisor located in or around NYC and do my damnedest to convince them. I think I would play up a situation where i didn’t have much time, but would leave all the materials i had with them to review before leaving suddenly. Maybe, in like a weird inception sort of way, they would come to realize that i wasn’t actually insane and the planes with hijackers needed to be grounded at all costs. All the what ifs. I was born before 9/11 so i would like to think when i returned to 2024 we’d be living in a very different, much kinder world.

I seen a couple of jumpers that hurts seeing that a few months after 9/11 i went to new york and thought about the jumpers that day and i wanted to try and understand how high up they were so i went to the top of the empire state building thats a little bit shorter than the world trade centers and i walked to the ledge and looked down and the cars and people look like ants my first thought was my god what did the people that jumped on 9/11 go through in their minds as they had to make a choice of burning alive or jump and end it quickly? It takes a real hero to make that kind of choice and thats what they were heros!!

Do you know that once every week or two a person jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge and the Beachy Head Cliffs in England, two very popular suicide spots, how do you explain that?
@ianch7Ай бұрын
@@pulsarlights2825people who decide to end their life that way have made that choice… it’s sad of course, but they see no other way out of their mental state, to them it’s the only way! This day, people were living their normal life expecting to be going home later that day! They didn’t want to die, that wasn’t their choice! You make an assumption like it’s easy? Taking your own life is not “easy”, jumping to your death is not easy and jumping to your death when you didn’t even want to die is certainly not easy!
