Every sf2 prior to super had the greatest freaking sound affects. Very heavy and emphatic. The affects match the damage these moves dished out perfectly.

The NES got me into gaming, but this game right here solidified my love (well this and the later sequels). I literally put hundreds of dollars into this game. I'd cut school, ditch friends sometimes, sneak out of the house to play this. I remember not knowing the motion on how to pull of a dragon punch, until a little Filipino guy who was a damn master at it showed me how to pull it off, to winning tournaments in the mid 90's. Those were the days. Always felt good to walk into a crowded arcade back in the day knowing you were the best. I fell out of fighting games for a LONG time, but am trying to get back into it.

Everyone back then was playing MK, and I was over here practicing combos that lead into shoryuken. I remember getting into arguments because I didn't have any MK games in my genesis and when they brought the game themselves I'd never take the street fighter 2 cart out. Good times.

I used to love to play using Guile and Chun Li. It was killer to beat the CPU Blanka's spinning ball attack with a somersault kick, since even at full health it took close 3/4 of the bar if timed right.

When I played the arcade version of SF2 when I was a kid, I for whatever reason didn't see or ignored the "2" in the title, and only called it Street Fighter. No joke. My favorite characters used to be Dhalsim and Blanka. Dhalsim I liked because he could stretch, and Blanka well, he was the monster. lol. Man how times have changed.

The boarder on the left is bigger than the one of the right and my eyes are bothered by that. Also, the low health music bugging out seems to be a side-effect of the emulator you're playing on, since the song normally changes to the other version just fine. I'm glad you got online matches to show of SF2's multiplayer, though!

Yeah, a lot of people misremember SF2 as having more mechanics than it actually did. It was actually pretty bare-bones until Capcom had managed to attach a few more adjectives and nouns onto the title. That's probably why iterative re-releases became such a thing for them - it was the key to their greatest successes.

Street Fighter II is definitely where fighting games went crazy good from the crap that we saw with old school games like Street Fighter 1. Watching this makes me wish that Capcom would bring more of their fighting games to the PS4. I mean what's stopping them from doing things like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on the PS4? I was watching your SF Beta Twitch video from December and at a glance it looked like you were using the Mad Catz TE2 Rivals Ken stick. I was just asking since I'm new to arcade sticks, and I preordered the SFV TE2+ which has (with a few exceptions) a similar design.
