honestly the most impressive feat of the soulsborne challenge is the hurdle of DS2s infamously shitty hitboxes haha, theyre extremely janky & unfair compaired to the pixel perfect hitboxes of the rest of the series, can get caught out by reallly unfair distances & clipped by attacks that clearly missed you. the b team did a shoddy job on it, plus you can only move in 8 directions, its just not optimised or as flawlessly designed as the rest like with 1/3/BB/sekiro you can watch fights in slow motion and see attacks miss by millimeters, grazing past the character model in amazingly fluid dances but with 2 when you go slowmo you'll see massive gaps where people still get hit haha

". . . will likely never be preformed in a real speedrun" There are so many speedruns WRs that rely on what was once thought to be TAS possible only. I guarantee that now this trick has been performed, the world record will one day rely on it being pulled off as the final act of the speedrun. It might take some time, but eventually it will be the only time save left, and once that is true, speedrunners will pursue it, regardless of how insane it may seem.

One such "technically possible" trick is in Quake, where the final map has a trigger to exit the level near the ceiling in the boss room (According to the source files released by John Romero in 2006, "This is so in Deathmatch, exiting the map will go to the start map.") You can reach it using a combined grenade and rocket jump, but it's rarely ever attempted in single segment runs because it's so difficult to get the required height without dying and it's right at the end of the game. Since it allows you to exit the map without killing the boss, it's technically the "true" ending to the pacifist speedrun. www.twitch.tv/shamblernaut/clip/VictoriousIncredulousNarwhalCoolStoryBob

And that is why speedrunning transcends just playing a game. I assume most people who play games on repeated runs do some little tricks to speed up the less interesting parts without going for a speedrun. From skipping cutscenes, to constantly rolling or whistle-sprinting in Zelda.

Depends on community. If moderators will do in the same manner as for some low%s it would be like this: Runs in the leaderboard first and foremost would be sorted by the amount of hits taken, then by time run took to complete. So his run will allways be above all ones that took 1 hit. Alternatively, they may make a completely new category, like it was with some Mario low%s.

wouldn’t it be the same w Doom 2 runs then? Since there was a secret deemed impossible to trigger for a complete 100% UV max run until Zero Master found a way to get it making his run the only “legit” 100% UV max run?

One of my favourite "technically possible" tricks is in Quake, where the final map has a trigger to exit the level near the ceiling in the boss room (According to the source files released by John Romero in 2006, "This is so in Deathmatch, exiting the map will go to the start map.") You can reach it using a combined grenade and rocket jump, but it's rarely ever attempted in single segment runs because it's so difficult to get the required height without dying and it's right at the end of the game. Since it allows you to exit the map without killing the boss, it's technically the "true" ending to the pacifist speedrun. www.twitch.tv/shamblernaut/clip/VictoriousIncredulousNarwhalCoolStoryBob

I played the hell out of this game as a kid, i remember making it up to the battle with his father and dying, it was soul crushing to discover it sends you clear back to malth if you fail on one of those final battles. I finally beat the game though, and as a kid i didn't get many new games so once i finished one i had to set a new goal for the game, and it usually meant beating a game without dying at all at least once. I remember doing it to ninja Gaiden at least one time, I know i did it, i got nothing to prove to that game anymore and I'm satisfied with that.

1:45 '[as a newbie] you are going to be destroyed, but if you learn the ins and outs of the game you can make short work of it'. Full to the point. That makes it a classic alive today. Ninja Gaiden is like a magic trick, becoming quite easy if learned. Plus it is short. Even if you are not Arcus, Slackanater or their like, the game can be beaten comfortably in little more than 20 minutes. And the game play becomes quite satisfying if not interrupted by dying every other minute.
