Nice video. It should be noted that in addition to cold hardiness, Florea is typically grown because it's one of the very earliest ripening main crop figs.

Would like to get Improved Celeste, but you can't get it in England, at least not now.

Not available in Australia either as far as I am aware! Sometimes the US gets to have all the fun

@@FigginAround sorry to hear you've been hit by a lurgy- hopefully a speedy recovery. Happy to hear it's nothing worse. Been super busy catching up on planting dahlias, feeding brugmansias and trimming along with other garden shrubs. My garden is pretty crammed and intensive. My potted figs thriving with lots of new growth. As improved Celeste is not available I shall.l be purchasing ( if still in stock) a Celeste fig. Get well soon Nathan, cheers.

For the next rankings, can you put the name of the variety you are talking about on the screen while you are talking about it? It helps if we decide to write it down to get cuttings in the future. 🙏

Definitely, great suggestion. If you look at the end of the video I put a list for you and I will include them during the middle for the next one :)

These 21-30 look amazing! Possibly because I’m interested in honey figs 😋. My guess is that the top ten will have more berry figs than honey figs. I like the process of how you’ll be allocating points for people who guess the name of the figs in the top ten. Are you using a similar system for the Melbourne cup sweep? 😉
@FigginAround2 жыл бұрын
I am terrible at the Melbourne cup! I usually get people much better at guessing these things than me. This year I will have about 5 different honey types to try, I am really looking forward to Deanna

California Brown Turkey makes a reliable, attractive, and not-too-large landscaping tree. Like most figs it doesn't require a lot of fuss or water once established. So in drought-prone SoCal, this automatically makes it a winner as far as the big box stores were concerned for a few decades. Happily, I notice this trend seems to be dying out of late; all my trips to HD this year, I checked the nurseries and never saw even one CBT, but several black Missions, Desert Kings, and a few others; but no CBTs!🦃 Fig enthusiasts of the Golden State may now rejoice. The reign of big, bland, insipid figs is coming to an end, at least over here. We can only hope that the rest of the world eventually follow suit.

I have an unknown P if you want to risk a cutting swap with someone from the US. I'm in the southeast and while my tree is very young, it splits too much for my climate.
@FigginAround2 жыл бұрын
Very generous offer, I wish I could take it up, they are very strict with cuttings coming in here
