Wao. This is just brilliant. When you sabi, you sabi. He just succeeded in breaking down big big economic grammar and jargons into very simple terms every Nigerian can relate with. Vital lessons from this includes: 1. We must separate Nigeria from those ruling Nigeria. Yes perhaps we have not had the best of leaders as a country but indeed we have a great country. 2. He has also thrown subtle jabs at our governors who prioritize their so called "infrastructure" which is basically roads and bridges at the expense of human capital development. Our governors need to do more in empowering citizens with quality education and skills that can make them productive and add value to the economy. 3. He has also said that the pressure on foreign exchange is the fault of everybody including governors and our rich people. So if we say we want this country to work, everybody needs to do the needful to reduce the "illicit demands" on FX. Thank you so much for this lecture Mr Taiwo. And thanks so much to The Platform for organizing this. May Nigeria work for me and my family

Ask Nysome Wike or David Umahi to come for a public hearing to explain to Nigerians what they are doing in their different ministries I bet you, you will regret the outcome. Well done Oyedele for the lecture. But you left out a critical aspect of the forex challenge, perhaps for political reasons, which is the Supply of forex. You only spoke of the challenges on the demand side. Our crude oil sales (forming +/-90% of our forex earnings) crashed from over 2m bpd to below 1m bpd between 2015 and 2023 (the Buhari era). As such, forex demand overwhelmingly surpassed Supply. This is the rootcause of our economic challenges today. Very good for all to be aware of this failure.

How many South Africans are visiting Nigeria, compare it with how many Nigerians are visiting South Africa. We should ask ourselves why South Africans are not visiting Nigeria. Even within the country, how comfortable is it to move around within the states of Nigeria. If Nigeria can tackle security and logistics issues where one can drive from one state to another freely and do business freely without security issues. And rich Nigerians as well as politicians can move without so much security escorts because there is not much insecurity, then there will be attractive for business activities. And the economy will surely grow aggressively.

This is like listening to a history lecture not a developmental one. It's my opinion and also fact that accountants, finance managers, tax accountants etc who manage money do just that - manage money, but the money has to be made first before you will need those to manage it. Our problem in Nigeria is how to make more money and accountantband finance managers are not gifted in HOW TO MAKE MONEY. Let's not waste everyone's time with bringing all these financial historians. We need designers, developers, producers, manufacturers these are the financial futurists. Not tax accountants and financial managers and bankers etc. Enough of all these.
