Babylon's Fall also deserves the Nr.1 Spot for TERRIBLE Game Ethics. Wonder why the game was so bad? Because executives essentialy forced the developers to change the ENTIRE concept of the game, that has been worked on for years, in a desperate abusive crunch to cash in on LiVe sErViCe gAmEs. There were actually talented people who worked on this game for it to be good, only to have their work scrapped and get pressured into dumping out a different shitty game last minute. Basically the developers just wanted this thing done and finally move on.

Sounds like SqueEnix, all right. They've been trying to put everything into LiVe sErViCe gAmEs, whether it be major platforms and consoles or mobile games. Yet in the past few years, they've shut down several live-service games, with some shutting down within the year like Babylon's Fall. They alone should've been a BIG warning sign for SqueEnix that LSG's are falling out of favor. Then again, they've gained a reputation of as Japan's EA for a reason.

As far as I know they worked on a different game under the name Babylon's Fall for YEARS and actually wanted it to be good. But then shitty executives came along, basically forced them to scrap years of work and create an entirely different concept, essentialy having to start over under extreme time pressure. So they had no choice other than dump this thing out and be done with it. Abuse and crunch culture of the gaming industry.

Very very sad he didn't roll with Gungrave. It works like an arcade shooter, just with dodging and third person movement. The devs have been updating the game a ton to make it better, I literally thought that thing went from a 3 to a 7 after the updates they've done. It's so jank, but if you've played the PS2 gungrave games, it's so clear how much love and soul was pumped into that thing.

All I know about Gungrave is it was a surprising revival of a series that started on the PS2. I played it briefly on Xbox Series X since it’s part of GamePass and as someone nostalgic for early 00s games I found its design somewhat charming as it certainly feels like something I would have rented back in 2003.

This 100% I played the original way back when, it wasn’t that different, worth a buy? Nope but is a great weekend rental from blockbuster to breeze through. New one isn’t worth a buy either but it being on game pass is perfect.

I think the reason why The Devil In Me is like that is because they were working on 2 games at the same time. Remember, The Quarry was also released in 2022, meaning that they must be splitting their team into 2 and from the look of it they put more people on The Quarry than The Devil In Me. This by no means I'm trying to defend them. If anything, I'm also disappointed with this because House of Ashes is actually really really good. They should've released The Quarry in 2023 or 2024. Other than to make it easier for them to develop both games, it'd also be like a break from the more shorter experience in the Dark Picture Anthology games and it wouldn't make people (at least me) confused by thinking it's from the same series

The quarry was actually postponed for a while during development because of the pandemic and limited funding. I’m surprised they picked it back up instead of progressing Devil In Me properly, I love the games but was super disappointed by this years.

Some of the games I'd like to add to that list is No place like home, a game that got quickly pushed out of early release in less then a month and abandoned shortly after only to chase at the next money maker

Gun Grave Gore being at number 2 is very symbolic as you said the game looks to be a hack and slash or it might be a hack and slash but the guns are too op just like a certain game named Devil May Cry 2

Scarlet and Violet have a shit ton of problems and were very clearly rushed; however, they are extremely fun once you get past the issues. I cannot say the same for Fall of Babylon.

My friends and I played the movie night mode for The Devil in Me and had no issues. I wouldn't say the launch experience should matter too much when the base game is actually really good. This isn't to mention the fact they did make two games last year as opposed to their usual one
