Im classified as living at poverty level..but ive given quite a bit of money to charities..I am now sure that most of that money did not go to that Charity itself but it to the workers pockets. I get at least 20 charity calls a month.. Ive said no to a lot of them..But i guess i will say No to most and find out which ones are really legitimate.

I have had organizations as these call me for donations, mainly police and firefighter organizations. I just tell them that they are a scam and that the police and fire depts take care of their own. If it is some other organization, such as United Way, I flat out tell them that I do not give to them, I give directly to those charities of which I approve. Even at work I do that, much to the chagrin of those asking (it messes up their 100% participation numbers). Also, there are some organizations under United Way that I don't want getting my money.

In Australia they are very strict with fraud here they would find it hard to get away with it here

Like they will tell you over the phone the truth where the money is going to..They will lie to you over the phone, just to get your donation...Hang up the phone!
