that's sadly impossible, our planet doesn't have enough food for everyone, if it did, food prices would be almost free. The people are living longer, born more, dying less. we would need to destroy every forest to make farmland for every one on earth to eat. Giving to food banks doesn't solve anything, it's just less food for you, more food for someone else. As food prices increase, that means even less food for you, less food for them.

@Mushroomcorvid Жыл бұрын
@@prebenkul Wow, do I have some awesome news for you! Contrary to what you've heard, we actually produce enough food to feed every single person on this planet, even based on a 2000 calorie diet. The UN (and other agencies) report that we've got plenty of food to sustain even the projected 10 billion people we will have by 2050. It's not about the lack of food, it's all about the logistics and accessibility. But hey, even if we pretend for a second that we're running low on food, technology is here to save the day! There's the application of improved botany sciences with techniques like hydroponics, aeroponics, and purple lighting but there's also genetic engineering allowing plants to produce more food per plant with less water etc but that's a controversial solution since gmos are a complicated topic. These techniques are allowing us to grow way more food than ever before and we frankly have barely even started implementing them. If you don't believe me, check out Vertical Harvest in Wyoming who has been producing ten times the amount of food compared to traditional land usage of a farm since 2016 if you want a concrete example. It's also literally inside of a city using space that was already deforested. There are these gardens in New York City, built on entire skyscraper floors and honestly many other examples of basically futuristic farming happening. So, the idea that we're running out of food or land to grow it on is just a myth. It's all about how we manage and distribute what we've got. The rising food prices and people not having enough to eat? That's more about the challenges of getting the food where it needs to go and making it accessible to everyone.

I had someone come to the door yesterday… fundraising for special Olympics which I would donate to, only like you said I couldn’t and had to sign up for a subscription and now I know why. As soon as I said I’ll check out the website he was very defensive on that I needed to go through him, I didn’t even think that a “volunteer” would get paid… with my money, no thanks. Taking advantage of disabled people… that’s pretty low. Thanks for the information; I’m glad I saw this today as I’m supposed to be getting a callback today.

I work to better myself... 100% of the profit goes to me, minus whatever government takes. I sleep peacefully at night knowing someone I know is fully rewarded and supported that day and I appreciate very much what I did for myself.

Non for profit is Knox school for boys and that school is the most prestigious most expensive school I have ever come across. 13k up for each student. Each year/Semester. One time the school brought fireworks to celebrate a new building opening up. Plus the parents donated more money for the building.

I agree with you on this one. Rather than donating, I do community work such as working at my local food pantry.

As a person who used to work at Red Cross, I will never ever in my life give even a cent of my money to that organization. Never have I seen such a degree of money mismanagement, underpayed workers at the bottom with awful work conditions (what do you expect, it's a charity) but then higher-ups with made-up positions and donations disappearing dod knows where. Not to mention how most there actually saw people who they were supposed to help as inferior to themselves. It's just sad. Super disillusioning experience. Please, please only donate to organizations that actually do something.

I remember being kind of annoyed when some charity guy stopped me when I was buying groceries to explain to me about his charity. He wanted my address, he wanted my name, my birthdate, he even needed me to give legal permission for him to "use my information", and on top of all that he said if I wanted to give an one time donation I had to figure it out myself and not bother him for it because he "wasn't allowed to do that". The charity had something to do with stopping children marriage, and while it was entirely legit, I honestly can't say the experience made me appreciate it more.

You should have put a fundraiser tag on the video. It would’ve been pushed out more by KZbin an therefore more money to save the children🙂

Tips I ise to avoid the kiosk people: - If you talk another language, use that at your advantage. They can't get the bank info of a tourist - Fake phone call - the old classic "sorry I dont have the time", works best at train stations - and my favourite one: "I'm already subscribed at your charity". The kiosk person has no incentive to talk to you, you stay polite and everyone leaves happy. Also, donate food to your local foodbank/shelter or do some volunteer work.

I don't donate to charities because I'm so poor I could almost be considered a charity case myself. I do participate in my local 'give what you can, take what you need' box, however. I'd much rather directly support my community than a faceless company.

I have often donated to charity, and now I'm targeted, everyday I receive 6 phoned calls from different numbers asking me for money for different charity, not mentioning letters from charity I have never even given to, all the charity ads on Instagram, and me learning where some of that money actually goes. It's honestly kinda sad that I see so many posts about children suffering that I end up having to just ignore, cause I'm broke, can't give to everything I see.

I was one of those kiosk people right at Oasis at Broadbeach, and I did not last long. It's a tedious job having to smile all day, and I felt bad kinda lying to people. The money you contribute doesn't start working for the charity until you donate for at least 2 years. In the meantime, the money goes to the people raising the money. However, do be kind to the kiosk people, just trying to make a living, albeit the wrong way. I was a fresh international student, needing a job badly.

Another thing charities like to do is to donate a portion to other charities, which kind of launders the money around a few of them.

my family have worked in charity, moved 80 million pounds of food to the needy, we dont anymore because it was forcefully taken over by bankers, so unfortunately even of it starts as a good charity it can go down hill. also a side note the charity meetings in las vegas are sort of comical. so unfortunately in general giving money to people or charities you have to be mindful, and make giving a enough of a priority to check. which is a habit I try to get better at.

I donate my time not cash. I’m broke but I can help feed my community, plant trees in local parks, pick up trash from the beach and litter on daily walks. You don’t know where you’re cash goes when you donate but at least when I volunteer at the food bank I can physically see the person I’m helping.

I also signed up for MONTHLY donations to Greenpeace when I was fresh out of high school and has my first job. I never got feedback as to how donated money helped - but my dumb young self stayed subscribed for 2 years. Another charity I only signed a petition for, and now for the rest of my life I’ll get 8am phone calls from them asking me to donate.

I don’t either. But it’s because you don’t know if your money is truly going to that cause, and also there are so many worthy charitable organisations out there. What makes one better than the other. So how would be possible to choose which one to donate to. And you can’t donate to all of them..

Yo if this is the takeaway then it is pretty harmful. You can do research, look for official certificates and read criticisms. That's not more blind trust then everywhere else in life with friends, family, work and especially consumption. We do trust there, but have a double standard elsewhere?

Generally i think we as a society should advocate for actual security rather than charity; people shouldnt rely on yknow having water and food and shelter just based on how generous some rich person is feeling on any given day. It should be guaranteed; secure.

Act For Peace is a great charity actually doing work. How do i know? I am the daughter of a former vic office head, and we were poor as shit 😂 He did go for a few trips to see their projects in action, once to Sri Lanka, once to East Timor. The people wanting to go on the trips, usually students or maybe journos etc had to fundraise their ticket and stay themselves, as my dad did at the time. Sounded daft when i was younger and had never had even a game boy (this is round 2002-3) but looking back, im proud he worked for a great charity i can believe in.

This is why my family only gives to charity's that allow one-off payments at the kiosk and for those collecting donations for RSL (Returned Services League) or those associated such as war widows foundation and flying doctor's service (which does allow one-off payments, at least where I live)

When you pay your mortgage, there is an expectation that someday you've paid enough and the payments stop. But with charity it's like you're paying a mortgage with an infinite amount of installments. At some point you'd be expected to feel kind of silly for paying money for something that has no end point.

The best thing anybody with the means can do is either fund workshops in their communities or donate to their local friendship centers. We need to stop relying completely on organizations and fund our own workshops that benefits our immediate community. We would like to think we can save the world but we all need to save our communities first.
