With apologies to the infamous Mike Mamula trade from the 1995 NFL Draft, at the 1971 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles made a somewhat forgotten trade that was noticeably worse. In 1971, the Eagles gave up three high draft picks in a trade with the Detroit Lions in exchange for quarterback Greg Barton. Barton played a grand total of zero snaps with the Eagles. This is the story behind the trade, and why and how it failed in spectacular fashion
