Sparking Zero and FighterZ being completely different genres doesn't impact the quality of the final product, SZ is my first Tenkaichi game and even I can tell the game's gold. Controls are tight and it has a good bit more depth than average anime fighter slop.

He's right with a lot of what he says. He's talking from a casual player's perspective and I don't think you're getting that. The point he makes about FighterZ, if you've never played that type of game before, this is a leap in game style when you're talking about DRAGON BALL Z GAMES. I have never played a 2D fighter game, so to me, it's a vastly different game. The point he makes about under water, it's like fighting out of water, there's no major graphical difference like floatie hair/clothing, no water moving with each blow thrown. The controls might be good for you, but for someone that doesn't spend 4 hours plus on games, there's too much going on control-wise and sometimes I find myself pressing the wrong buttons, that's what he means when he brings up "casual". So when you make fun of skill issues, yeah... duhh, he's talking about casuals. I love Dragon Ball Z games, but this is the second one that I stopped playing after less than 10 hours. It's not a mindblowing game, it's.... meh. You are fine to disagree, but I personally found it bland, I really wanted to play the story mode, because again, casual, but that was so disappointing and I don't have time to learn how to "git gud" when I have a job and other responsibilities.

To the point about people quitting, I feel like it should count as a loss on the person who quit. It's unsportsmanlike, but that's not the whole thing. Somebody might not be in the mood to get absolutely rinsed which is fine, but leaving early shouldn't be entirely consequence-free. Sparking is THE Dragon Ball game that the majority will still play forever unless a sequel comes out. As a fan, I have never been happier. Xenoverse felt like baby-hour and no satisfaction. And Fighterz, while a good 2D fighting game, is still very limited with a forced 3v3 style, small HP and tiny compacted arenas to fight in.

2:17 Tekken isn't a 2.5 its full 3D fighter. Theres foreground and background that is available all the time. Its not linear. Budokai was in fact a 2.5D since the models were 3D but thr fighting was 2D.

Maybe you haven't played the games in a while or the language isn't clear but Budokai is a 3D fighter just like Tekken. Things are a bit blurry as Virtua Fighter and Tekken had 3D models but didn't start with sidesteps in the base moveset, Fatal Fury back in 1991 had lanes and even games like Smash have 3D hitboxes, but generally being able to move around someone's side is the important part. "2.5D" is not helpful at all if we are talking about how the game works.

I believe 2.5D is used when the modelling is 3D but the fighting is 2D making the game a mix so neither 2D nor 3D but 2.5D instead. Pretty cool that Budokai 3 is a full 3D fighter. I haven't touched the game in decades and I had to review gameplay form youtube. Can attacks wiff like tekken ?

@@tzitzitzitzi1584 Yes, attacks can whiff just like in Tekken as all of the games (unlike Tekken) have sidestepping to avoid projectiles or strikes but it is a bit different. One big difference is that you can't jump, crouch or block low in any Budokai, but some attacks do make you leap over attacks or duck. Defense gets some additions especially in Budokai 3 and onwards (Shin Budokai, Infinite World and Burst Limit), but has more differences. I know what you mean with 2.5D and occasionally use the term to describe visuals in platformers. There are also "arena fighters" which can be even more "3D" than Tekken like Sparking Zero and Gundam Vs Gundam.

@thelastgogeta Arena fighter is a legit term for me and also very distinguishable from a 3D fighter since in a 3D fighter you still have the 2D perspective but the 3D ability while arena fighters are 3rd Person camera fighters that have more movement than a 3D fighter and a bigger "ring". Tenkaichi is an Arena Fighter, Naruto UNS is, OP burning Blood is etc.

At 13:30 I was reminded of my PVP match against UI Goku vs. base level Teen Gohan. My mind melted so hard just trying to keep up with counters and dodges just to keep even. Only way I won was the trusty double Kamehameha. Dude this combo doesn't seem to be able to get blocked. Super Kamehameha, into father son Kamehameha 9 out of 10 times it hits. Only way it messed up is when I didn't hit the super.

11:05 i love abridged! ^ w^ but lets get to the lesson. you dont make a mechanic for one scene in anime. especially since this moment is very circumstantial. frieza wasnt gifted enough to read power levels. That's why goku charged it and waited, wasnt because he couldnt charge ki fast while underwater, its called just being sneaky... like tactics in fighting... things you dont learn in Sparking. Ps: if that was the case, out of so many dragon ball episodes why wasn't this problem mentioned? plenty of moments where characters hid underwater, sometimes fighting a foe that cant read ki.

You know what, I wanted a Xenoverse 3, but I'm not going to hate on Sparking Zero because of that. If anything I'm proud that they're giving us a beautiful game like Sparking Zero. It makes me smile because i don't have to say the last "Tenkaichi game" was Ultimate Tenkaichi. I know that's comparing apples to oranges, but growing up the BT games were a huge part of my gamerhood. Playing Sparking Zero is a huge shot of nostalgia with an upgraded taste. Now are there a few things missing that I would love to have added into the game? Yeah, sure but I'm more than satisfied with what we got, and I'm sure we'll be getting more characters in the form of dlc in the future. Sparking Zero may not be a complete masterpiece, but it's the piece of the puzzle that Dragonball fans needed.

Saying that sparking zero is “stuck in the past” makes no sense. It’s supposed to be the next entry in the budokai series and has a bunch of changes that keep them similar, but ultimately makes sparking zero better. It’s like calling mario bros wii a bad game because it shares power ups with other games and has a similar control scheme, or that final fantasy 7 is bad because it’s still a turn based rpg like the other final fantasy games before it.
