Starting from getting hit with the Spirit Bomb but subconsciously absorbed its collective energy due to said Power. I wanted to make two follow-ups: one as a good ending and another as an evil ending

The mode is limited, yes. But all of the most popular custom stories are either memes, overpowered raid bosses or just straight up uncreative. That’s not on the developers. The best custom stories I found I had to manually search for. They had less than 1K plays but there was effort to make an actual story and you could tell. Just like with online battles, the worst the community has to offer is what’s front and center and it just sucks.

I've made custom battles on the same level of difficulty as elden ring fr you have higher speed and damaged but the CPU can heal and has way higher speed and higher damaged by a lot lot and I've made a few custom battles where the AI has unlimited key which stops them from doing a lot of dumb things that they do and give them a counter strategy

I made a story where Vegeta and Piccolo fight at night, it takes place around the 3 year time skip in the android saga, its supposed to be piccolo looking for a place to live and he stumbles upon a good island to live on then vegeta pulls up on him to test his strength and because bulma kicked him out briefly, if vegeta wins and beats piccolo, vegeta still doesn't train as hard in the 3 year time skip and they all die/lose to 2nd form cell, if piccolo wins its the last straw of vegetas pride and he locks in for the next couple of years and becomes a super saiyan

I made one where you play as Cabba vs kale and caulifla. It takes place after the TOP and The duo wants to learn SSJ3 so they force Cabba to fight them. If you don't beat them within a certain amount of time Goku joins to show off, which causes Vegeta to get enrage and fight Goku for interrupting their training. It turns into a brief Vegeta vs. Goku fight until Goku leaves because chichi calls him, and Vegeta leaves as well. Caulifla and kale just fused and you have to beat them. The real ending is you beating them early, the hidden one is where Goku interrupts.

the real problem with custom battles is you could create gold but if you have no way to promote your battles (i.e. youtube, or some other social media) then it literally gets buried under trash after just a couple minutes so you get like 5-10 plays then no one see's it anymore and its dead. the only battle i made that did well and has hundreds of plays im pretty sure is because a youtuber played it on stream and put it in a video and ive made better ones since then.

My only complaint with this mode is that searching for names and dialogue is insufferable and there should have been a search tab to look for specific words. Other than that, I’ve enjoyed the mode a lot. It’s fun seeing what others can create with the tools given and what each user likes the most out of Dragon Ball. The 100 battle mode in BT3 was fun but it was just a selection of regular battles with some themes attached to it, I don’t think that would have made much difference in Sparking Zero. A mode like this is definitely worth it, just needs tweaking and fixing certain parts.

The best way I've found to prevent CPUs dying before triggering events is to give them the capsule that makes them unable to die, leaving them a 1 HP, and have the event trigger when the CPU is at 1 HP, while also removing the immortal capsule. This will help certain events like a forced transformation or fusion not be stopped by a long combo or ultimate attack.

Dude custom battles were my most anticipated feature my only gripe is how CLUNKY the menus can be and how there's not alphabetical order. So far i've made Z Broly encountering Goku Black, Trunks at the TOP (my interpretation) and Beerus waking up during OGDB seeing a vision of Kid Goku as the Super Saiyan God. I also don't like how some camera angles are so limited :/ Great game though I fw this heavy

The community definitely doesn't know how to use the mode cuz it takes too much time to make something cool. It needs major adjustments, like a keyword search, more cutscenes, the effects don't trigger when you'd think, some effects don't trigger at all after certain conditions, but you can do some really interesting stuff if you take the time to try & understand it. A lot of good/creative battles get buried under meme battles, 9x full heal raid bosses or the degen stuff so the mode seems bare bones. The mode definitely needs to be streamlined & hopefully then people will have an easier time making cool customs. Maybe someone can vet custom battle submissions for y'all so you aren't spoiled. Yall could set up an email or social media account we can submit too?

I'd say part of the problem is how limited your battle's 'page' is. There are custom battles that try to do interesting things with the mechanics. I myself have made a couple on PC about trying to set up missions where you have to keep the enemies' sparking meter up to stop them from switching out, or a survival fight with your health depleting and having to repeatedly beating minons to make the character you have to beat more vulnerable - things that make it feel like an actual boss fight past big health bars. But the only thing that represents someone's battle on the page is a premade title, a thumbnail that just shows you which characters are involved and near meaningless tags. You can't really convey anything substantial about your battle unless you're advertising it online. I can't explain the mechanics in my battles, I just have to hope people see my explanation online or just kind of stumble into understanding them. That's why shit like meme battles or ridiculously hard battles get attention, because it's something you don't have to explain to the audeince, it doesn't need more info past that thumbnail.

Fr, I made a battle about Goku black and zamasu against broly, at the end of the fight I made broly do a forced ultimate attack and then give the player full sparking and only allow them to do blast supers/ultimates. The intended outcome is a beam clash but I already know a lot of people won't figure that out

I think custom battles would be amazing if they gave us custom auras. Because then you could possibly give future gohan super sayian 2 aura. Custom battle is limited to what is giving to us for customization of the characters themselves I feel. Also I think it would of been nice of giving us access to make the dialogue instead of giving us pre-made dialogue and choosing words out of it.

A lot of the problems you said about the modes aren’t even issues it’s simply players don’t know how to make a costume battle .there is various ways to stop you from one shot the enemy:1.block ultimate ,2.block sparking mode,3. Give the enemy massive massive armor at certain health,4.kill you if you use special move on enemy,5. Regenerate enemy’s health when super on him

The more you played the story the more towers you unlocked. So the first towers you got were hero's villains and maybe Saiyan saga tower and Frieza saga tower. Then the more of the story you complete the more towers you'd get. Cell saga androids family Vegeta family Goku family Majin family fusions tower and more

@7:40 sir may I refer you to the last video you did fighting the BT4 devs where you literally cheesed them. Though I get it in most scenarios of active combat they super counter or vanish. But NO AI is immune to being cheesed. I personally feel like what makes BT4 a bit harder is the lack of resources you have in it compared to Sparking Zero and the willingness of the AI to just Spam super attacks.

Custom battles was what i was looking forward to the most when waiting for this game. I made one where future trunks finds a way to send a distress signal to Goku and Vegeta and they go to the past and find out its Baby, but he already infected trunks and the others. I had multiple loss screens, wanted to add clashes, etc... couldn't do most of what i wanted because they half assed the mode. It took me 2 weeks (because i work and stuff) and i actually ended up a bit disappointed because i felt limited in what i could do based off of how the system works and they just did not make finding names and dialogue easy. It still turned out okay, but definitely not what i envisioned.

Honestly Rhyme, I think the game mode is pretty solid considering what it's trying to do, it's just they really need to have more resources on how to actually make good battles. Like of course things could be improved like the dialogue search and stuff like that, but the actual options they give allow for a lot of creativity if only more people actually understood them and tested their battles with the intent to make them fun. For example, I guarantee that what you mentioned in the Roshi raid with Deion locking him into a combo before he could do his forced ultimate is because there is the "when health is less than or equal to" option and the "instantly when health equals" option. The creator probably used the former which waits until animations are done/there's a break in combat for checking health, versus the latter instantly triggers as soon as they hit that amount. But I definitely made that mistake as well when I was testing my own battles because there's no explanations or anything on why you'd use one over the other. I'm sure more community resources will pop up regarding how to make battles with good mechanics as time goes on since it's only been a month, but without a glossary or better examples in game or even content creators like you actively making guides for creating one, it'll probably be hard to find good battles for quite a while unfortunately. Your best bet is probably gonna be to find some people who are actually just really dedicated towards making interesting battles like Levi would for Xenoverse 2, so that y'all can go into it blind but know that it'll be more than just the boss healing 10 times and shooting out unblockable supers

most any decent custom battle is listed under the "story-centric" tag, things like roshi vs goku from og dragon ball, actually most og dragon ball tournament battles are pretty good, tien vs goku etc. It just takes a lot of effort to make a good custom and people don't really want to sit there for hours making something that gets no recognition because of the crappy search feature

It's so annoying trying to find dialouge, why didn't they just add a search text field so you can search what you want the character to say or just simply let the creator input the text themselves, it's just a string, you should be able to write whatever you want. About the AI stuff, there is some effects you can create that increase the ai's level and another one that changes their battle strategy. So you could have a max level AI and give it the strategy to focus on going sparking rather than fighting, or use ki blasts, or do combos, ect

Persoanlly ive been havign a blast putting together my own stories and making raid/ battles and they usually takes me about a week and a half to finish(my last one took me two since its a bit more story heavy). Some people are going to put in the time and effort with some custom battles, but as youve seen the majority arent and just post easy slop lol. But i do agree it needs some updates like a text search box cause that is the most gruleing part is putting the dialougue together lol.

My personal thoughts on the custom mode is that there is actually plenty of cool possibilities with it, but it takes too much effort to work with, so most people just end up making really low effort missions and only a select few go through the trouble of making something genuinely fun and interesting. If making custom levels wasn't so time consuming and tedious, i think we'd see the community getting far more creative. I have multiple ideas for cool custom battles, but making them just takes sooo long and sooo much effort. It's a bit of a grind tbh. Not to say the mode isn't in need of some more options as well. Like i would love a beam clash cutscene for example.

I think my main two criticisms of the mode are 1) the guesswork involved in finding good missions and 2) the limited conditions/the inability to stack conditions. Number 2 is mostly for those Special Victory and Special Loss conditions. You can't really do anything THAT interesting with them because you can't stack the pacing effects (HP remaining, time passed, etc.) with the player action effects (using a certain attack, guarding, missing, etc.). Hypothetically, if you wanted to create a fight where you fight someone who absorbs energy like Android 19, Moro, etc. and you wanted to do something like "oh if you try to throw an ultimate attack that's a ki blast while your health is too low you lose because then the enemy would absorb too much of your character's energy and they wouldn't be able to fight back" you'd have to do this awkward sequence of steps: 1) Set up Effect Table A as your normal fight mechanics (extra defense when hit by a Super Attack, recovers ki when you miss an attack on them, etc.) 2) Make Table A check for your HP being too low, then when it gets to low add an effect to make it switch to Table B 3) Recreate all your normal fight mechanics in Table B to hide the effect switch 4) Create a special loss in specifically Effect Table B for landing an ultimate attack Keep in mind this would also restrict your abliity to create distinct phases for your boss because the effect switching would no longer be tethered to your progress in beating them but instead their progress on defeating you. It would also mean that you would also have to just kind of accept that your neat special win or loss can only exist in a hyper specific section of the fight or that you have to keep each boss phase's effect-based buffs down to things like "Current Form" or "Current Character". Doesn't sound THAT bad until you consider characters like SS1 Trunks vs Super (as in grade 3) Trunks, Scouter Vegeta vs Great Ape Vegeta, etc. whose forms fight noticeably different from each other and would feel satisfying if they had very noticeable differences from each other mechanically. But honestly this can just be fixed with an update adding more options, and as that little list I wrote out showed you still technically CAN get some interesting effects if you scale down your fights so it's not out-right terrible. But Number 1 is the absolute big dealbreaker and bane of the entire thing though because there's no way to preview fights in any real regard besides the replays which spoil the fights in their entirety. There's also no real review system or proper description tool either and what DOES exist is incredibly unhelpful. Likes and Favorites tend to go to fights with eye-catching thumbnails (i.e. any meme fight, any fight that re-uses the Gohan Black screenshots you get from Story Mode, etc.) but because Likes & Favorites are just You Have Them or You Don't you can't tell the difference from the well-rated ones that are just "haha tiny guy fight big guy" or which ones are well-rated because they had a bunch of time put into them/because they used the cutscenes and the effect editors to their full potential. Tags are arguably even worse because half of them just mean "big fight" which any person can use to describe Normal Stats Gogeta Blue vs Normal Stats Jiren or their boss with 99 health bars that gets killed by emoting 3 times. A bunch aren't even proper descriptors (i.e. "Power Level 5") while they're missing huge ones like "multiple endings". This problem stings the most bc this is a problem they would have had to fix in the conceptual stage that they failed to address. Unless they just accept that 1000s of missions just become obsolete if they were made before a certain date the Devs likely won't ever roll out any single preview feature that would help fights. Two band-aids to this problem I could live with would be 1) the *optional* ability to check the fight's effects list the same way you can while you're browsing through your own missions (So you can find out ahead of time if you're going to have your time wasted by constant full heals) and 2) a review system where people can leave maybe 5-7 of their own tags to help provide a more specific impression of the fight. So the most straight obvious example would be if there's a fight where the enemy can't die unless you emote three times that the creator tagged "Climatic Battle" and "Challenging", the community can all leave reviews tagged 'Rigged Match', 'Against the Odds', 'Shtick', etc. to tell people that it's not really a skill check it's just gimmicky. Anyway, Kind of sad to hear to see Custom Battles leave the channel, but honestly I really don't blame you when there isn't a super centralized Discord or Forum to have people upload their battles and get proper reactions and commentary to them. I spent a few weeks in the trenches working on Battles that have like 4-6 endings and 8+ cutscenes each but I struggled to show them off to The Community bc of how quickly they got lost in the huge sea of PlayStation battles.

The main issue with this mode is just the community ngl Its limited dialogue wise and stuff to stop people from being weird (they still manage it anyway) but you'll notice that despite the possibilities for the mode, the top missions are just memes/weird stuff, snd OP raid bosses That's not the mode's fault, the community would have made them either way, just look at how many DB fanfics are "betrayed and trapped in the timechamber", outside of exceptions like AF, DB fans are not creative enough to make anything like what some people expected in this mode

I donno if these are Console or PC - but on PC people figured out how to make some of the dlc chars for january / February playable in custom battles, and its flooding the costum battle screen. I love it xD

I know it's not perfect, but custom battle is by far my favorite mode of the game. I have over 100 hours in Sparking Zero, and a majority of those are just in Custom Battle (albeit, much of that is me making my own battles, rather than playing others')

I'm working on a cinematic 1v1 duel between Frieza and Cooler, with 2 win conditions and a secret transformation that adds a new win/loss condition. The skeleton is done I just kinda hate using scene editor but when it's done I'll post it in your comments section cause I agree. We need some custom battles with more hours, creativity, and bug testing poured into them

When I tried to make a custom battle, the biggest thing keeping me from making something better was how bad the filters were for dialogue. There are so many and it's impossible to find what you want without scrolling forever

Overall, creation mode needs custom screen panneling implimented by photo mode/video mode. So therefore we would need tons more emotes & facial expressions too & custom dialogue since we cant hear what theyre saying anyways.

I think the mode definitely had potential. I myself tried making a series of cinematic episodes involving Bardock avenging the Saiyans but it took HOURS just to write the dialogue! Having to scroll thousands of sentences hoping to get close to what I want characters to say, only to then be limited with what keywords I can choose and have to scroll for a replacement made me not even finish. Plus like you said some of the events you script to happen just don't activate. Game most definitely needed at least another year in the oven, maybe even 2.

If you want to avoid having the cpu die before a cutscene you can equip the z item “immortal body” and then trigger the cutscene and after just program it to come off

There is some hidden gems there the problem is usually not a lot of people play them. I found that most creative ones are usually more about the less popular characters, that's probably why they get played less. I found much more creative ones in recently posted than in highest played or highest liked.

I think one of the best things they could do for custom battles (aside from just giving us more and better tools) would be the ability to string together like.... let's say up to five custom battles to create a mini story line. So many people end their custom battles with like, a teaser of the next one so it's obvious people want to create ongoing stories.

I have 3 seperate difficult custom battles in the works that are more than just an enemy that heals over and over! They're not quite ready to publish yet, but I'd love to see you to play one of them The first two are recreations of Goku VS Frieza (normal Namek) and Z-fighters VS Nappa, with canon-accurate difficulty; I found story mode's fights with them underwhelming, so I took it upon myself to correct that. The third is an original story featuring the "Ultimate Lifeform", which (after the intro fight) is a 3v1, so you might be able to do it with the 3 idiots. Also, that last story will get a sequel eventually, but I gotta finish the first one first

Rhyme you're killin' me man. Some of these custom battle flubs you're calling out are straight up, just, your fault. The Beerus vs SSJ4 battle ended because you used your ult and the cutscene implies that just kills the super saiyan 4s. if you beat them normally, you get a different end screen. The biggest problem with the mode is how bad the search function (both for dialogues AND for battles themselves). I've made and played some fire custom battles with branching endings but people just wont see them in the deluge of missions posted and its very hard to see if a new battle comes out since you can't link them into a saga afaik.

Okay i do love custom battles to see how the community cooks with their stories, but it definitely needs more updates with this, especially top page since the top battles have been on front page since day 1. You have to look to find good peak stories by searching. Also big criticism if this has happen to anyone but does anyone else when they want to play a custom battle, you get the "not playable because you don't have dlc?" . . . Only dlc in this game other than daima goku is the anime copyright music. You're telling some people's custom battles are locked behind dlc music? If that is the case that definitely needs to be changed! People's free custom battles locked behind dlc music should never be a thing period.

I played a lot of fun matches where people have re-created scenes from the original Dragon Ball super or the movies. I think there is a lack of creativity in the community but also I think there is a lack of eyes on the good stuff - like what if Vegeta was on earth and attacked by the saiyans?

Rhyme I have a level I’ve been working on for 3 weeks. It’s almost ready, this is not a troll. I love this mode and I’m always trying to make challenging and serious episodes. I make sure that the quotes and lines are like what the characters would actually say so it’s immersing. I genuinely think you’ll like it and I really want you to try it before quitting on this mode completely I’ve noticed too that no one takes this mode seriously. It would be cool if we could send you missions to play. I have only made one level and it was more story based. I didn't think it was very difficult but my clear rate was pretty low surprisingly. Also in regards to the AI, you can manually go into the opponent settings to make it stronger and Bulma sells specific AI directed programs that allow you to customize how the AI plays as well

Tbh, it's half the players half the actual tool, I've seen a lot of custom battles that take you out mid combo for cutscenes. Just because not everyone knows how to use a feature, doesn't mean you should blame the feature. There's countless bugs in sparking zero and we just need to wait for everything to get fleshed out.

You know some people just make custom battles and upload them for the trophy/achievement whatever. Honestly the only thing that disappoints me about this mode (And I don't even have the game) is that your dialogue choices are heavily limited. I understand that it's so some people don't get away with saying something offensive, lewd, or derogatory. We're gonna get that one way or another. I mean people already worked there way around that mess. I guess companies can't hide behind the "Online Interactions aren't rated by..." blah blah blah anymore.
