Miss Lady it was damaged, what are you talking about? She could barely get the comb through her hair. You have to be scissor happy when there’s that much damage. Some people are okay getting the damage taken off all at once but that doesn’t mean she’s happy about it.

No amount of deep conditioning or protein treatments was gonna "revitalize" those fried ends. The people on here saying "she cut too much" or "regular trims aren't necessary" are the main ones holding on to long, stringy, uneven, damaged hair just for length. Just let it go sis! P.S. regular trims don't mean you're getting inches off each time. I straighten and trim my hair every 3 months and it's much longer each time.

We take the most risk in hair style including color but have the least experience when it comes to actually maintaining health and length and for some crazy reason we love to hold on to damage...Our hair is the most beautiful and we need to become consistent in caring for it properly...its starts with those ends!!! Idk about that. Type 4 hair coils from root to tip. So the ends will be the curliest/poofiest part. Snagging on the blow dryer may not be a big issue, but her ends puffing back up after the flat iron was a sign. But then again, she only gave one pass with the iron, so..... I can't call it. I figure the girl knew if her ends were damaged. She wouldn't have agreed to the cut otherwise.

@@ocky88 you have a strong point about the hair type and texture. Yet and still, the healthy hair got silky after one pass, while the damaged part remained coarse and wiry. At first I was side-eyeing in the stylist because of the title of the video. But when she started straightening her hair and she had to recone the ends I was like oh no. and then I was like really doesn't look that bad but when she picked that hair I was like woah yeah I see why she had to cut it. Looked absolutely beautiful in the end!

When the video first started I thought to myself " Oh her hair is beautiful". As the video progressed I realiZed that the colored ends were gonna have to be cut. I wasn't surprised by that at all. Just Coke no I’m a relatively new stylist but today I left this girl’s dry kinky ends on and tried to go over it with an iron for the curl. Those ends said bye Felicia and and frizzed back up in minutes. I googled what went wrong. You actually have to cut them off for a silk press because they don’t cooperate. Now I know she wasn’t going to go for that trim but I should have offered it and let her know if she didn’t let me then no iron in the world was going to get it together. I did the daughter and another stylist did the mother. Same dead ends. Same result.

I appreciate the fact you took extremely thin layers to straighten, which leaves less waves/crimps (I'm not sure of the proper term) in the strand of hair. The thicker the piece of hair you try to straighten, the less likely the proper heat/temperature can penetrate all the way through to the middle to provide a sufficiently straight strand. Beautifully done!
