The Smurfs weren't really the stars of that movie and they didn't show up until 35 minutes later. So some people might find that part underwhelming about the movie. However, the Flute movie functions more like a crossover between the two Peyo comics. Johan and Peewit were not that well-known outside of Belgium, which can throw Smurfs fans off about their introduction. While the movie is not the best, it's still the truest and respectful Smurfs movie by default since Peyo wrote the script and it's based on their origin story.

I have to disagree with you on the Tom and Jerry film, the reason why it works is because it homes in the idea that it's not real, and that's because of the slapstick and shit. If they made the animals real looking, it wouldn't be funny. It works for Scooby Doo in some respect, because the show was never relying on the same style of slapstick as Tom and Jerry and neither were the other live action adaptions, they had more freedom to do whatever the fuck they wanted to do. But Tom and Jerry in particular relies on the slapstick aspect, showing imprints of the smashes and bangs and everything else, Joe Barbara and Will Hanna knew how to animate the impact of a smash very well, and making the animals in the movie look real would just be a middle finger to what those two did when they were alive.

I'm actually kinda shocked that there still a surprising amount of people who think it looks terrible, like, the original concept of the film had being real life animals like Alvin and The Chipmunks but the movue went through development hell through years because they changed a lot of it including the animation style, wich to me looks just as good as Rogger Rabbit (after seeing a "behind the scenes" of the movie I refuse to agree with anybody that says the animation is bad/unfinished/lazy, it took a lot pf effort to do that kind of animation style), yet, I feel like people are disliking it simply because of the premise of taking place in real life which sorta makes sense, but it seems they're pulling that out in a way that doesn't feel cringe inducing (and just because a guy mentions tiktok doesn't instantlymean it's gonna be trash/stink I mean sonic flossed in his movie, yet people will forgive that but bot this?). And the slapstick looks great just classic Tom and Jerry, hopefully I wont eat my own words in the future, and I'll actually. P.S. these comment was longer than I anticipated.

@@ricardodct5577 "Mark wasn't exactly suggesting to make the characters look fully free, his actual argument was that in the context of a hour and half to 2 hour long runtime of a movie, he wouldn't be able to stay invested in the movie due to how the CGI is implemented. Like for example, in a hotels scene, the only light in the area are the hotel's light which are casting a very visible yellowish tinted light, and you can see that on the human but Tom's highlights are as white as it gets, it's stuff like that can take you out of a scene and has nothing to do with the characters being cartoony" Friend

Why not have the human character go to the smurf world... And have Gargamel try to track down their world
@Cutiepie-cy8td3 жыл бұрын
Another thing that aggravated me in the first movie is that Grace was seriously trying to make Patrick realize how incredible it is that the Smurfs came to them out of all the people in the world WHILE HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO SAVE HIS JOB! She was basically making it sound like the Smurfs are more important then his job and also the baby! If anyone was being selfish there, it was her!

Each time Mark referred to the Smurfs and Smurfette as Papasmurf’s children I suddenly got flashbacks to that one episode from the cartoon where it was Valentine’s day and every Smurf excessively tried to get with Smurfette, INCLUDING Papasmurf who said something like “You could be called Mamasmurf” and EUGH. And in the movie Papasmurf’s clearly depicted as a father figure of the other Smurfs including Smurfette so EUGH. What even was that episode DANG.

Detective Pikachu wasn't bad, I liked it enough to watch it again when it was on On Demand Ken Jeong is in the Tom & Jerry movie, instant classic. Also, T&G has gone live action before and it was nice. The dance clip from the 60s or 70s. Loved that as a kid.

My only memories of the Smurfs from my childhood is one classmate playing a Smurfs game so badly it killed her PS1, and smurf CDs, more or less Norway's chipmunk CDs, with popsongs translated if English or just sped up Norwegian songs with the word smurf filling in for words not suitable for children, such as beer.

My main problem was how the blue moon being the focus of the movie and later on when it was highlighted from one of the comics but the two things is just completely separate and not the same thing the blue moon in the comic is just an event that has to be celebrated by 100 smurf with dancing or if not it was told that a catrastophe would happen but there's only 99 smurf in the village, so thank god vanity smurf accidentally coppied himself by making his mirror reflection getting struck by lightning meanwhile in this movie the focus was that a great catastrophe would happen in the hand of gargamel and that the blue moon served as a portal to smurf and the modern human world is just the weirdest thing i ever hear does the director even read the comic?..

4:42 Well give that movie credit with the animation, it did something different where instead of Tom and Jerry looking like photorealistic monstrosities, instead they are in non-photorealistic CGI-animation like in Casper 1995 with Casper and the Ghastly Trio and the 2000 Rocky and Bullwinkle movie with Rocky and Bullwinkle arriving in the real world by becoming non-photorealistic CGI-animation while Boris, Natasha and the Fearless Leader are live-action.
