Main issue here is gaijin didn’t and as they stated can’t model the drag correctly. From what technical and sim data I’ve seen the lattice fins have high drag only at low speeds. However once they go supersonic at around Mach 1.5-1.8 they have less drag then conventional fins. This is not modeled in war thunder, allegedly due to gaijin not being able to code in variable drag for missiles. However instead of putting the drag on the low end to match the aim-120 they instead have it the low speed drag. As a result it’s a fucking brick that doesn’t work over 10-15 km. The easiest way would be to significantly reduce the drag because in the first place the high drag shouldn’t apply for a majority of the missile’s flight time.

They don't even have that high drag at low speeds They perform great at subsonic and supersonic speeds, even outperforming conventional fins at MACH 2 and higher according to the indian research paper Ive read The only issue is they create insane drag when crossing the speed of sound, but assuming they get launched from a jet going above MACH 1 theres no downside Gaijin just gutted them for no reason

They can’t fix the T26E5s LFP within 3 years, they probably won’t fix R-77s for atleast 1 1/2 years, gotta make sure the US mains don’t cry.

Im grinding chinese tech tree, what would you say about this jet? Is it painful/mid/op?

If you are grinding,all airplanes from 12.7 on up are a pain.I had a rental airplane and it already has all the modifications and so I could use it to the max.But taking it out of stock would be a pain. And as sad as it is, it's the worst top airplane (J-11A) as well as Su-27SM in my opinion.😔

Chinese air aint that bad. The cas is fine with jh7a and decent ground tree. The j11a is quite painfull with the r77 but its fine tbh. The j8f with pl12 is also fine. But it will most likely only get better from this point on as the chinese gets more advanced in the long run. 2 stealth aircraft and a pretty good bunch of 4 to 4.5 gen aircraft is good.

As a Japanese main who had only the sparrow when the ER clapped everyone and I did great. Hell I remember when everyone had their first 4th gen or amazing missles and I'm stuck using the Phantom like Germany is (except the Mig29). So the pain Su27sm pilots are feeling is nothing new to me and makes the jet easy because hard mode is common place. Both the 120 and the R77 are nice to use depending on skill and the situation.

No. Sparrow was the 2nd best SARH missile, and not even the 27ER was meta in that era of strong multipathing.
