the immense amount of arrogance that architect has, to not even admit his mistakes and offer counter measures to reduce its effect, but to instead shift the blame on "not having the tools to detect the problem", as if every other skyscraper in the world is a heatgun too, but to moreover show a lack of respect for a human's life just because he's enjoying in vegas, is beyond appalling

Look Viñoli. If you really want that parabolic curved esthetic on your death ray buildings, make sure to direct the concave part away from the Sun so no light can converge from any angle. Like north, if built in the northern hemisphere. The fact that a death ray building was designed and built facing the sun not once, but twice from the same architect! Almost feels like it was done on purpose.

A worker at the Flamingo in 2019 told me that so many countless suicides take place in these hotels that you'd never hear about, otherwise you wouldn't agree to stay there. Due to the pitfalls of gambling, and drug use, mainly. An Uber driver in Vegas also told me that every single day pedestrians are killed by cars and it is not widely reported, again as a way to ensure tourists aren't deterred.

Apparently this was also a problem (to a much lesser extent) with the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, designed by Frank Gehry. It’s curved stainless steel panels would make it quite blinding during the day and i believe they had to abrade many of the stainless panels to reduce the amount of light that they would reflect.

I've stayed at the Aria in Vegas right across from Vdarra and yes, that reflection is insane! I had to go into the casino because even my room was heating up just from the reflection across the street.

There is a building in Edinburgh where at certain times of the year, the sunlight would come in through the windows near the roof, bounce off the glass interior and blind everyone. As a fix, the maintenance crews would stick brown wrapping paper on the window but then senior management from England would demand the paper be removed as it spoiled the look. It appears the architect did not realise that Scotland is further North than England and that the sun would appear lower on the horizon at certain times of year. Yes the building was perfectly orientated to catch the sunlight.

It just shows how crucial careful planning and proper simulations are in architectural design to prevent such unintended and dangerous phenomena. A reminder of the responsibility architects hold in their hands.
