There is a building in Edinburgh where at certain times of the year, the sunlight would come in through the windows near the roof, bounce off the glass interior and blind everyone. As a fix, the maintenance crews would stick brown wrapping paper on the window but then senior management from England would demand the paper be removed as it spoiled the look. It appears the architect did not realise that Scotland is further North than England and that the sun would appear lower on the horizon at certain times of year. Yes the building was perfectly orientated to catch the sunlight.
