Saw a video where a couple idiots, one being a gun instructor, gives a little girl, no older than 10 AT MOST, an Uzi to fire at targets down a gun range and since the little girl had no recoil control, obviously, she lost control of the gun and killed the gun intructor behind her. Now that little girls has to live with knowing she killed a man because everyone around her had less brain cells COMBINED than a rock. Edit: Grammar

Safety rules, sight alignment, trigger pull, empty and clear. Then I loaded 1 round and allowed her to fire it. She handled it well, and then we moved to full load but slow action. It isn’t until I’ve controlled the recoil and l’m bringing the gun back down to the target that my trigger finger begins to allow the trigger to reset. Now I admit, I’ve been shooting for a really long time, but I don’t remember that EVER being a problem! It’s always been kinda natural. That guy’s father must have never took him to do man stuff! His son looked to be 8 years old and I estimate barely 4'6" I think you all know where this is going. Yes, he gave his son a full mag and when his son squeezed the trigger the recoil was too much for him that the muzzle started to point everywhere but towards the target. There were about 10 people on the range and we all hit the deck. Thank God, no one was hit. The range safety officer was truly PO'ed . I don't think I ever seen that color of reddish purple on a human face before or since.

At my local outdoor range a couple of years ago, I was working up a load with a bolt rifle, and some guy comes into the lane next to me with a brand spankin' new AR-15 he had just built; his first. Good for you, congrats, etc. etc. He pops in a pmag, points it downrange, and the next thing I hear is 3 uninterrupted seconds of freedom, with complete silence at the end since everyone else there had stopped firing to ogle the moron with the giggle switch. To this day I don't know if it was an honest mistake with assembly (hence why you should always test a brand new build with first 1 round in the mag, then 2 rounds, THEN more), or some yokel with a bent coat hanger. The range officer took the rifle, put it back in its case, and kindly invited the man never to bring it back to this range without a signed letter from a gunsmith saying it was safe to fire and incapable of such shenanigans.

Gosh, years ago when I was a teenager I was hunting with another kid (and an adult who wasn't close enough to intervene) and my young friend thought he should shoot a frog (possibly because we had a poor day duck shooting). This frog was sitting in the most foul, putrid mud you can imagine, and he leaned right over it and pointed his 12 gauge just as a big "Nooooooo..." came out of my mouth. As one might have predicted an enormous geyser of disease laden mud (and presumably frog parts) came directly into his face, eyes and open mouth. The velocity was such that his eyes were damaged (they did heal eventually) and to top it off he had a series of intestinal diseases that lasted for weeks as they changed antibiotics to fight one after another. I don't know if that is Darwinism or Newtonian physics, but probably both.

As brandon said in the double action revolver video never load any more rounds than you are capable of shooting. When i was growing up i would always go hunting with my dad uncle and their friends and for whatever reason they loved giving 13 year old me really big guns to shoot. One day a friend of his brought a .44 and asked if i wanted to shoot a couple rounds i said ill shoot one he said ill put 2 in just in case you was another. I told him start off with one so i can see how it kicks without shooting myself and thank goodness i did because i walked away with a busted forehead after the kick on that thing and i know for a fact i accidentally pulled the trigger a second time during the recoil it mightve been the difference between me living and having a darwin award. im not sure which wouldve been cooler but life is pretty alright

For any gun really. It might be a shotgun, rifle, handgun, or revolver, you should only put 1 round in the gun IF you are unsure if the person firing it can handle the recoil. A bruised face is a hell of a lot better then turning your brain into pink mist.
@arklytte2 жыл бұрын
That's how my dad taught me to shoot. I learned to handle guns when I was 7 or 8, was always closely supervised, and dad only ever put 1 round in the gun at a time. It was literally years before I was allowed a full load, and years more before I was allowed to load my own/shoot unsupervised. But by that time, gun safety had been firmly etched on my soul. That's not to say i never did stupid shit with guns...I think everyone who's into guns has at one point or another. Talk about loading only one round... Hanging out at an indoors range once, behind the safety glass, and a dude came in with his girl and 2 other couples. He "taught them" how to handle a gun (and I'm putting that in quotes because... well, obviously), and proceeded to hand his girl a revolver. Pucker factor enters the scene. She took her first shot, did a little happy jump followed by a 180º, gun still in hand and sweeped her entire group of friends with a potentially live weapon. Her friends cheered with her, I duckered (ducked+puckered) while behind the bulletproof glass, and an employee rushed in to roast the soul out of their stupid bodies.

@kaasmeester59032 жыл бұрын
@@ironked Often it's not the fact that they are (or aren't) experts / qualified firearms trainers, but it has more to do with them being too close (as in friendly) with the students. In military service, you paid attention to the sgt. explaining gun safety because if you messed up you'd end up with your butt in a sling. The instructors at our range are friendly and funny guys, but they are dead serious when doing their instruction, and give off the same message: "You don't want to mess up in my class so pay attention". In contrast, you get a friend to show you, there's some joking around, and if that friend isn't taking things all too seriously, why should you? I took friends to the range at times, but I always asked one of the instructors to explain things and help my friends shoot my firearms. They've actually made that the rule now as well.

A good friend of mine recounted a tale from Fresno, California. According to him, a gang banger was fleeing Police and ran down an alley bellow and behind the apartment where my friend lived with his Mother, back when he was 10. The G-Funk was carrying an extremely short sawed-off shotgun. He climbed up on the top of a concrete barrier, gave the pursuing officers the flinger, and yelled something at them in Spanish. He then proceeded to shove the sawed-off in the waistband of his trousers before jumping down on the other side of the barrier. My buddy couldn't see the guy after, but he claims there was a loud "BOOM" consistent with the discharge of short-barreled 12 gauge. This was followed by tons of frantic, agonized screaming... Bet you guys can guess where that gun was pointed...

I was taught to always look down at my holster while reholstering. The argument for that being if you are putting your pistol back in the holster you no longer have any threats to worry about.

Heyo, translator here. The language used by the guy who shot himself when reholstering his firearm is Afrikaans. The woman says "Jiss Barend!" Jiss is an exclamation like Jeez! Or similair word in English and Barend is the name of the guy who shot himself. Edit: I am Afrikaans aswell, it goes without saying that most of us are not negligent with firearms. A lot of us in Afrikaans culture take pride in how we shoot and safely handle firearms.

This reminds me of pistol familiarization in Marine Corps boot camp with the 1911 in 1980. One of my fellow recruits fired the first round at the target, 2nd round over his own head and 3rd round back in the general direction of the targets. This made a very memorable event.

Even semi auto rifles, 1 round to starr. Introducing "new" shooters to auto or burst, 3-5 round mag, hand between the shoulders and free hand to grab the weapon if need be. I'm not a touchy instructor but at times I'm going to put safety over how the shooter feels.

he's also aiming the revolver slightly above, as though he's being cautious even while staging it. Also that advice on the bump shot segment, actually some nice advice. When test-firing a gun for the first time, only one round in the chamber would stop those moments where people freak out and fire off multiple rounds.

So, I was a LEO for 11 years before moving to the private sector. Over those 11 years I saw the end result of a lot of dumb shit done with firearms. Everything ranging from people accidentally shooting themselves or someone else, to a police recruit releasing his slide-lock right before firing a round because he thought it was a decock lever for some reason (we carried SIG P229s). I recall an incident in particular involving two on duty DOC officers. One was in a port-o-john handling some state business and the other (newer officer) was waiting outside. The one waiting outside got bored and decided to start looking over his revolver, which he took out of the holster. It was loaded. While inspecting it he thought to himself, "my trigger has some dust on it, maybe I should wipe it off." Needless to say his stupidity was rewarded with an accidental discharge that grazed his leg, went through the port-o-john wall and into the leg of his partner.
