This reminds me of a purchase I made buying a Go-cart with a snowmobile engine on it. Oh it was fast and when the throttle stuck wide open in my pasture all I could was a large tree coming at me. Good old kill switch worked.

Tell ur buddy that it's more and likely oil leaking down the valley to the back of the engine which looks like it's a rear main seal. It's more and likely his hpop- high pressure oils pump or his turbo pedestal oil seals are bad. Have him look on top of his motor behind and below his fuel bowl and he might see alot of oils there. If it isn't then his hpop is ok. Have him look further back and see if it's the turbo pedestal.

I went from a 6.0L to a 7.3L and wished I didn't. The 7.3L is sluggish and gets horrible fuel mileage. I would take that 6.0L over a 7.3L any day. Good luck!!
