Ok… I get it guys… necromage is a good perk. 😂 I got so many people in the comments telling me that it helps with vampire builds. I had no idea, since I don’t really play vampire builds that much. I wish it actually told you this In the perk menu. I probably would pick novice healing in that perk tree if I remade the video now.

For lockpicking, wax key has to be the worst by FAR. By the time you get wax key, you have a high enough skill to just pick every lock relatively easily. And almost every lock in the game stays unlocked permanently after being unlocked, so having a key to it is pointless. The only time it's even remotely useful is to get a key to a shop you like to rob at night. But most locks on shops don't go past Adept anyway, so picking them normally is easy already. So there's literally no point in Wax Key
@TypicalPirate55

Yeah, wax key is pretty bad

Yeah, there are like two locks (probably more) that are locked with "Key Required" but have key available with Wax Key on easier locks in other places. e.g. Gyldenhul Barrow.

I’d say the level 100 perk that makes master locks easier is worse because of the second level 100 perk that makes it so lockpicks don’t break anyways.

The worst perk in Restoration isn't Necromage (others already explained it) but Dual Casting because it drains 40% more magicka (but multiplied by 2, because you use both hands) to get 10% healing bonus.

The Magic Resistance perk in the Alteration tree is actually insanely useful on legendary difficulty since you'll want to hit the magic resistance cap of 85% in addition to having a high fire/frost/lightning resistance to resist those effects even more - and, ideally, you'll want to hit all of those points without having to "waste" too many enchantments on those effects or having to play a Breton. Yes, Spellbreaker is a great help, especially against dragons, and is an all around great item in general, but Orchendor can be very difficult to kill without cheesing the fight for many builds, so having alternative methods of reaching the magic resistance cap is always nice. Plus, I'd argue that the Dual Casting perk is actually a lot worse in the Alteration tree since the "Flesh"-spells are usually just worse than wearing armor anyway, are often not worthing spending all of your magicka on, and not many fights will last long enough to need "overcasted" versions of the "Flesh"-spells anyway.
@tranducquang5912
@tranducquang5912 5 ай бұрын
You don't have to do any of that. Just drink a potion and you get it. You would want alchemy anyways if you are a mage so that every single one of your spell is 100% more effective. Its also why Alteration tree sucks since all the thing it provides are just redundant and overshadowed by the 3 best tree in the game. Why use oakflesh when your armor rating is at capped, or why use exchange health for mana when you can just chunk a potion.
@Nr4747
@Nr4747 5 ай бұрын
@@tranducquang5912 Well, if you're playing the game naturally (meaning you aren't cheesing crafting) you will not reach max level alchemy before you get your first 2 magic resist perks in the alteration tree. And it's that middle part of the game that tends to be the hardest on legendary survival difficulty because many enemies do crazy damage to you while you still haven't maxed out your crafting. For that part of the game, the alteration tree is actually really good, imho.

9:08 I would argue that the Orcish Smithing is the worst of the Smithing perks, while the Advanced Armors is the third-best Smithing perk. While the Orcish Armor set is better than the Dwarven Armor set, their weapons are actually weaker. The Orcish weapons are the 3rd weakest category, after Iron and Steel. This makes the Orcish Smithing overall a lower tier than the Dwarven Smithing because both of their armors could achieve the maximum physical damage reduction of 80% with level 100 Smithing and level 100 Heavy Armor, making both of the armor sets being on par while the Dwarven Smithing perk has stronger weapons. "So why is Orcish the worst Smithing perk and not Steel?" You might be wondering. Because if you know how to get certain steel weapons, they are actually better than Orcish and even Dwarven. Some examples are: Blades Sword, Scimitar, and Skyforge Steel Sword. These 3 swords are in the Steel category, while you can't craft them, you can upgrade them and they benefit from the Steel Smithing perk. These 3 swords have the same damage as the Elven Sword (11 damage), which is stronger than the Orcish Sword (9 damage) and the Dwarven Sword (10 damage), while still having the same weight as regular Steel Swords (Weighs 10 points instead of 13 points like Elven Swords). So once you join the Companions and have access to the Skyforge Steel weapons, you don't need to upgrade until you find your first Glass weapon. Plus the upgrade cost is much cheaper. And on top of that, prior to the Anniversary Edition the Steel Smithing perk had access to Crossbows, which arguably are better than even Dragonbone Bows. The Steel Armor set can also achieve the 80% physical damage reduction at level 100 Smithing and Heavy Armor. As for the Advanced Armors perk, you CAN make weapons with it. With the Dragonborn DLC you can make the Nordic weapons, which are as strong as the Elven weapons, but weighs 1 point less. But why is it the third-best Smithing perk? Because both the Steel Plate Armor set and the Nordic Carved Armor set are on par with the Orcish Armor set, which means they all can achieve the 80% physical damage reduction at level 100, but with superior weapons from the Nordic weapons category. And on top of that, you can make the Scaled Armor, allowing you to make both Heavy Armor and Light Armor at level 50 Smithing which you can't do with Dwarven or Orcish while having access to better weapons than them both. The best Smithing perk is tied between Dragon and Ebony (Because of Stalhrim), as they both have access to both Heavy and Light armors while also having the best weapons prior to the Anniversary Edition. Dragonbone weapons are physically stronger but Stalhrim weapons have access to stronger enchanting properties. Advanced Armors are better than Daedric because despite Daedric has stronger weapons and the best armor in the game prior to the Anniversary Edition, Advanced Armors can achieve the same results with its Heavy armors and it has access to both Heavy and Light armors on top of decent weapons, more value per perk point invested. But these are just my opinions. Also you don't need the Dwarven Smithing perk to smelt the Dwemer decorations into ingots, you can do that as a level 1.

Because of it you can do the wards and magic resistance. It's very useful if you want to use the atornach stone (+magica recovery -resistance to magic damage) It's great for vampires, will help with dragons and if you mix magic resistance, with the lord stone and the Bretons natural defenses you become basically inmune to magic.

I disagree with block runner because it helps close the gap with mages specifically. You can keep your shield raised while approaching them and take less damage from their constant spellcasting with the perk that reduces elemental damage. You could say Spellbreaker solves this issue anyway, but in practice it's not great because the mages will constantly break the weak ward and stagger you.

Plus doesn't it lead into the shield charge, which sends enemies flying as if you'd Fus Ro Dah'ed them into oblivion? I forget the progression of the vanilla perks because I always play with modded skill trees. My personal choice of worst vanilla shield perk would have to be the one that slows time. I mean, it only triggers when I have my block up and all it tells me is SOMEONE is power attacking me, which if I'm playing smart and not letting myself get surrounded, I can already see it coming. Then again there's also power bash, which I never use. But I'm pretty sure that starts the whole bash perk line, so you kinda need it if you want *anything* else on that line.

3:26 Interjection: This perk allows one to recover single arrows from those that OP players one-shot kill, at a chance of 90%, versus 20% without the perk. So, this perk is one I get as soon as I can, because it's better to be able to reclaim bolts and arrows from corpses, than to make a pit stop to buy or craft more. Make sense? Of course it does. Not to mention, some arrow/bolt types are hard to come by. 5:04 But it's perfect for stealth builds, because when they run, you get a second chance at hiding and then getting a surprise attack. Of course, when they run, often times, they are panicking and can run into traps, other infighting NPCs, etcetera. Not useless. 7:28 Special treasure includes higher amounts of gold. So, this perk actually increases the amount of gold that can be found by a factor of 175%. Not insignificant. Also, it increases the likelihood of finding flawless gems by fifty percent. 10:04 It's great when having to take narrow paths that force stepping on or over these kinds of traps. I've come across way too many to dismiss this perk as unnecessary, especially since the activation of traps often alerts nearby hostiles. No thanks. ... I think 'Quiet Casting' is bad, because it's in the wrong tree. It belongs in Sneak. Otherwise, it's fantastic. Lowering the skill requirements for Persuasion/Bribery/Intimidate is a must. I've made this mod already, and the Quiet Casting mod too. I've made improvements to the Speech tree, the Sneak tree and the Enchanting tree. ... Did you know that combining frost and fire damage negates frost resistance? It's a bug. I think it's addressed by the unofficial patch. Maybe, I'm not sure. The pickpocketing gold perk? It also increases how much gold can be taken, not by much, but it's something. ... #QA What do you think of new location mods, like Beyond Skyrim, Clockwork Castle, Falskaar, and so on?

I'd argue that the worst perk in the Sneak tree is actually Muffled Movement. It only provides a 50% noise reduction, and only for armor; the Muffle enchantment or spell (available from any court wizard right from the start of the game) provides a far greater affect and applies it to all movement related noise, not just that from armor. Meanwhile, Light Foot is incredibly useful by letting you just completely ignore pressure plate traps instead of having to keep an eye out for them, then jump/go around them, to say nothing of the times it completely invalidates a puzzle (there aren't many of them, but there are a few). For most of the rest, I see where you're coming from (barring Restoration, but everyone else has done multiple essays on that), even if I tend to disagree, though to some extent context is relevant (what mods and/or CC content we play with, for instance). Master Destruction is obviously pretty bad because the Master Destruction spells are just bad (the best is Lightning Storm, but even that's only usable if you've got 100% cost reduction anyways), and I'd argue Experimenter edges out Snakeblood for worst in the Alchemy tree (you'll often commit to memory what you care about, or look it up online), and then Soul Siphon for worst in enchanting (it's only useful for enchanted weapons, and it turns out the Destruction cost reduction reduces weapon charge consumption; even without that, the recharge rate is so bad that you'll be chewing through Soul Gems anyways).

One commonly overlooked aspect of Necromage is its use in the very niche playstyle of being a vampire. If you are a vampire, and take Necromage, it affects you. All healing, perks, Standing Stone effects, enchantments, potions, and any spells that target yourself (like those in Alteration and Conjuration) will be increased by the multiplier of Necromage. Using Necromage with the Atronach Stone and Perk can result in an 80% spell absorption rate.

Necromage is actually insane, especially if you become a vampire as your restoration spells will take into account that you are an undead. It makes perks and other effects added onto the player stronger after you take it if you are a vampire. It can be an insanely broken skill, but only if you're a vampire. If you're not playing as a vampire the usefulness of it drops a good bit. Magic resistance is also an extremely good bonus to have on a Breton specifically as they already have a baseline magic resist, boosting that up farther without needing to use a ward is pretty good. It can make for a really good buffer until you remember to get spellbreaker if you're like me and constantly forget to get that OP shield.

Great video, I think all of the listed perks are from a logic point of view, however, must of them are intended for roleplay I think, like the pickpocket ones. I could make a good use of all of the "making the undead flee" when I created a female imperial character who was a mara worshiper mostly an exorcist who could make the demons scared with her flames spell and so on, I even joined the stormcloacks and we won only curing them with my restoration I did not fight anyone lol

Necromage!? Seriously!? I'm guessing you don't play vampire ever? Since it's arguably the BEST skill in the game even without being a vampire but especially if you are a vampire since it increases your own effectiveness being undead yourself. Also, I'd say the worst skill in the critical chance for bow, 1H & 2H since critical hits only calculate off the base damage of the weapon and it's such a low percentage. For bows alone you'd have to waste 3 skill points on it when you're better off sniping.

Some people have mentioned Necromage while being a vampire already. Just wanted to throw this out there: It affects enchantments on both armor and weapons. It affects a good number of perks as long as you take them after both becoming a vampire and having the necromage perk. It also affects some shouts like elemental fury. That combined with the dual weilding perk in the one handed skill tree will have you swinging weapons so fast that your arms basically become invisible. The slow down effect in archery and block are both majorly affected. BUT it also affects weaknesses. Like a vamps weakness to sunlight is also made worse. That being said any weaknesses can be easily reversed with enchantments.

The only perks i avoid like the plague are all of the paralyze combat perks because they have a tendency to proc before you land the blow, so mid-swing your opponent will suddenly freeze and topple over, causing you to miss them the with your weapon the majority of the time. Nowhere is this more annoying than with a bow. Otherwise I take all the other perks because i have earned the ability to be so baddass in even the most niche of ways.

It's cool that you offered to keep the questions anonymous for people who don't want their names posted on video. Anyway, I'd say that the critical hit skill in the archery tree is the worst since critical damage is determined by just the base damage. Getting back more arrows has become more useful if you have the arcane archer creation club content so you can get back those sweet elemental arrows.

Frost Enchanter is actually an *amazing* enchanting perk since it works with the Chaos enchantment that you can get from Falx Carius in Solstheim. My pick for worst Enchanting perk (and you're right that they're all quite strong) is either Soul Squeezer or Soul Siphon, depending on your playstyle (aka if you like using the Fiery Soultrap enchantment or not), since neither are particularly needed on any "normal" playthrough (where you'll have more than enough gold to buy all of the filled soul gems you'll need).

frost enchanter is very useful because of the chaos enchant in conjuction with stalhrilm. Stalhrim buffs frost enchant damage and each element from chaos gets buffed by every elemental damage increase. So Fire + Frost + Shock Enchanter + Chaos Damage enchant on stalhrim weapon. Furthermore, for some reason, enchants like absorb health also receive buffs when they are paired with elemental enchants with the use of the double enchantment perk.

Incredibly surprised to see block runner on this list. Movement spend is DRASTICALLY increased while blocking with a shield. Able to close the gaps on ranged enemies like archers and mages isn’t the only thing it’s got going for it. If you play pure mage build, using intense flames perks on wide group is actually pretty damn good as they stop attacking you which means less hits draining your life. This perk functions as crowd control. Necromage is one of the absolute best perks in Skyrim, especially if you also are undead (vampire). The absolute worst perks for me are magic cost reduction perks in each school. Why you ask? Because with enchanting you can make 0 cost anyways. Also the wax key perk is absolute trash. And btw unless you invest into enchanting and get 0 cost resto spell wards are absolute trash spells that drain magicka super fast, that said due to how it works dual resto perk is also trash, because the cost increase and the ammount healed is worse than if you casted the skill separately 2 times without dual wielding it.

Just a way to have those options more often feels like there's only like 15 times in a whole playthrough where these come up. I never invest any perk into lockpicking. Playing Skyrim for years gives me a skill that allows me to predict the sweet spot to open chests. If you lockpick a chest while carrying a torch, you can increase your chances to open chests a lot easier. Also, with Fenrik's Welcome Illusion Spell, you can open Expert level and below chests infinitely while saving up the lockpicks for the master chests. So the lockpicking skill tree is pretty redundant.

I'd say that reflect perk from heavy armor tree is equally useless as the soft padding for a simple reason: if you are heavy armored, you're going to easily achieve the armor cap, reducing any physical damage you receive by 80%, meaning, you're not going to be receiving that much damage, and it reflects the damage you would receive. That means that the damage you reflect won't be high, so I can't see how that 10% chance is going to change the tides of the battle.

Alchemy: I'd disagree with poison resistance - it is good, just comes too late - there are several enemies that use poisons consistently and they are a major pain especially on higher difficulties - namely the Falmer and Chaurus. 12dmg for 4 seconds is not much on normal and lower, but it becomes devastating on higher difficulty settings. All things considered - experimenter is the worst perk, because all its benefits are temporary and redundant once you know the recipes. Alteration - you mention potions - they are consumables with limited time. Wards - eat your magicka like crazy. Enchantments - now we are talking - but enchantments are the reason WHY Magic Resistance perks are amazing - 30% from perk. 15% from Agent of Mara, 25 from Lord sign. That is 70% with no enchantments. Fully capped if you are a Breton. At most you need ONE enchanted item to cap resistance out. That is ton of slots you can use to enchant some other effect. I'd argue that Alteration Mastery is the worst perk - Master spells of Alteration suck - both have too long casting time to be useful at what they do. Archery - Hunter's discipline is bad. But Critical shot is also a strong contender - Critical damage is based on BASE damage value, meaning you get at most only a couple points of damage out of this - it is bad on a principle of being deceptive. One handed and Two handed - the same story - critical damage and bleed perks suck, because they scale of base damage. Blunt perks are marginally more useful, BUT most in-game enemies do not really use their armour values - they tank with their health for the most part. Block - Shield Charge is my pick - on a simple principle it can, on occasion, simply stop working. Conjuration - my pick goes for dual casting - you eventually get permanent summons and most bound weapons last more than long enough on base casting time. Oblivion binding is ok against mages who like to summon a lot - especially at higher difficulties where these summons are actually a threat. Destruction - completely agreed on intense flames - you don't want your enemies to run... UNLESS you combine it with Aspect of Terror, which boosts fire spells significantly stronger IF they have intense flames - it makes them count as fear spells. Running away is still annoying, but damage offsets it. Enchanting - all are good, but Front Enchanter is the least useful on the principle of comparatively many resistant enemies. Heavy armour - agreed on Cushioned - it is just a minor quality of life perk but nothing you will really notice. Illusion - this is the tricky one... This magic school, IF you are planning to use fear, frenzy and similar spells is an "all or nothing" investment - you need all the perks to keep up with leveling of enemies - otherwise the spells will simply cease to work. And that is on top of the fact that these spells do not work on bosses to begin with. Light Armour - deft movement - not because it is bad, but it feels like a throw in to the tree. Lock picking - wax key... It is the definition of useless - it gives you the key to a lock you just picked... come on. And most locks STAY unlocked. AND since you already unlocked it... you can do this again if it ever gets locked. Pickpocket - poisoned, hands down. If you want to assassinate the enemy, daggers are more effective due to damage multipier. Poisons are hilarious... but not efficient here. Smithing - Advanced armours - no unlock for new weapons is damning. Sneak - light foot - agreed. It is convenient, but never necessary. Speech - the whole tree is bad, except the investment perks - especially considering you simply can't level it up naturally without using glitches to repeat dialogue. Restoration - necromage is useful for illusion casters and amazing for vampires. My pick would be Avoid Death - is situational and rarely gives you enough to truly turn the tide.
@Obsidianoak
@Obsidianoak 4 ай бұрын
Dude. Necromage also buffs you - check out some glitch vids. You can get your magic resistance past 85% i believe with this perk with the right approach Though yes Restoration would be a tough call as it is a generally good tree. I would say avoid death is the worst personally as you will have had ample time to build stats and stock up on potions ect. By the time you get it You can avoid death by entering the item menue and downing food/ potions or simply save a level up to replnish all stats and avoid death from level 2 on. Vs wait for a situational perk I tend to not use/ need.

Agree with you on the Alchemy. To me, Golden Touch is the best of the Lockpicking skill tree, followed by Treasure Hunter, because you do get gold, or stuff to sell for gold. That said, I've stopped putting any perk points into the whole skill tree, because none of them are worth it. If I had to pick the worst though, it would Unbreakable. It costs you five perk points just to get there, and your lockpicking has to be at 100. By this time I usually have over three hundred lockpicks, and don't care if I break one, or ten. As anyone who goes into a lot of Nordic or Dwarven ruins knows, Light Foot is a useful perk to have. The worst perk in Sneak, for me, has to be Silent Roll. Yeah, it looks kind of cool, but really it does nothing. If I didn't need it to get the higher perks, I wouldn't waste my time on it. One thing I take into account is how many perk points do I need to get the worst perk.

I prefer the passive level up and perk system of Oblivion sure the no breaking of Weapons and Armor is better in my opinion but if it was Like Oblivion you could hoard hundreds of broken items and with the duplication glitch you can spawn hundreds of repair hammers that way you can repair all your damaged loot in one sitting and take your 100 health item to I believe it's either 150 or 200 but you have to be careful not to raise collectable armor and weapons though to keep them pristine. But besides that Oblivion makes all Skill trees good you can use those skills allot more often and in combination with others not to mention being able to use spells regardless if you're holding a weapons that's where Oblivion beats Skyrim. In Skyrim magic is useless beyond leveling them up. I've hardly ever used Illusion or Alteration besides using one skill over and over to level it to 100. I manage my perk points. I get everything to 100 and only use those perks that are actually good. Like picking two ingredients which is tripled when you pick from a planted item from your property. Pick pocket perk that gives me 100 inventory space. Two enchantments. For Lock-picking I just wait until I get the Skeleton Key and then I just never complete that quest. Such a stupid quest. Why turn in one of the most useful and unique item for an ability that I would say isn't equal to the trade. And I don't like using the perk that makes the basic Lock pick unbreakable. That's what the Skeleton Key is for.

ohhh boy... in order of issues. Falmer do most of their damage from poison's so a 50% poison resistance is great I would say the capstone to alchemy is the worst because you could just make better combinations. Having innate magic resistance frees up space for other enchantments so that point is moot. Atronach has a problem that it will make conjurations not work 30% of the time. Archery's Crit shot is a 10% chance to do the base upgraded damage of your bow. way worse than a higher change to keep stocked on your best arrows. Block runner? this is the worst take by far. you go from a walking pace to a your normal move speed and you call that a slight speed increase? Also blocking arrows is just unreliable considering the enemy can still hit you in spots your shield does not cover. Enchating's worst has to go to soul squeezer considering you should have the black azura's star or at least the regular star in every run. one handed and two handed perks that are the worst has to go the the weapon specific bonuses because of how bad crits are, how bad bleed is, and how few enemies have high armor rating. Smithing worst has to go to orcish smithing. Advanced armors unlocks carved nordic weapons and armor that are just better than orcish. restoration you chose necromage... i hope you now realize your mistake here. This one perk can break the game because if you are a vampire congrats all your enchantments are now stronger on you.
